#2 ‘Who is this Jesus?’

Series on the End Times, The Revelation & Christ’s Return

If you think you know Jesus you might want to consider reading The Revelation before making a final decision. The Jesus of the Gospels is quite different than the Jesus John saw in Revelation.

John did not recognize Jesus even though we know he was the closest of all the disciples to Christ. In fact, he was afraid of Him once he saw Him, “I fell at His feet as dead.” How can one who walked with Jesus, ministered the Gospel of Christ for years and yet when he sees Him face to face in heaven did not recognize Him? Is this the Jesus that is “the same yesterday, today, and forever?" John, and now us, because we have Revelation can know the complete, total, and detailed person of Christ—‘the forever Christ;’ “the Revelation of Jesus Christ.”

Here are some comments John wrote about Jesus Christ of The Revelation:

o Christ comes back in clouds and everyone shall see Him and ‘wail’ because of Him. He rides a white horse and comes quickly!

o Christ is dressed with a golden belt, with white complexion and white hair, eyes as of fire, feet as brass, voice as loud as a waterfall, a sword in His mouth, and His countenance as bright as the sun.

o Christ comes with rewards and ultimatums for the church and is knocking at the door.

o Christ is the only one who is able to open the Book of Life.

o Christ comes with wrath/anger—“the wrath of the Lamb and who will be able to stand?”

o Christ comes as a thief—He comes as a surprise to those unprepared.

o Christ is the light alone for the new city Jerusalem.

o Christ is the beginning and the end, morning star, offspring of David and ‘His reward is with Him’. (This is a short list.)

When I was a new Christian, I wondered why Christ did not read the final phase in Isaiah 61:1&2, “and the day of vengeance of our God.” He quoted all the attributes Isaiah said about Him but left this portion of the verse out. I understand today that Christ came to fulfill on earth everything except this last phrase "until God, His Father, makes His enemies, His footstool” the Bible says. Christ came with forgiveness 2000 years ago but comes with wrath and judgment when He comes again.

My question to you is, if you are expecting mercy on the day of Christ return have you done everything He commands in Revelation? Today is the day for forgiveness but tomorrow the ‘Christ of forever’ comes with only rewards and judgment.
