The Politics of the Anointed One

By David Hauser, Regional Director of the International Healing Rooms

Joshua 5:13-15 Joshua said, "Whose side are you on? Are you for us or are you against us? He said, ‘Neither, I’m commander of God’s army. I’ve just arrived.’ Joshua fell, face to the ground, and worshiped."

What shapes our attitudes and feelings? Is it a slight, or a statement someone has made! Does it proceed from our emotions, which have become inflamed from past behaviors, a news article, advertisement, or policy that we disagree with? What happens when neither choice seems good? Are you having to decide between two evils?

Has the church forgotten how to pray? Should we just abstain from voting? Is it about us, or as a prophetic people can we see into the future and its implications if we are not involved? If you are a strict Calvinist, does it even matter?

We know that God has placed us into this world to be salt and light. Has the salt lost its savor; or has its light grown dim? I think not! Does the Anointed One want us to vote?

The question then arises, is there a Cyrus in the mix that God could use? Was Cyrus a perfect king? Does either of these candidates show a propensity to be influenced by the Holy Spirit? Could I be fooled by what they say? The Scripture says, "The eyes are the window of the soul." What do you see in their eyes?

Which candidate seems to be supported by the ‘World System’? There seems to be Christians all over the map when it comes to whom they will support. In the natural mind I think it is understandable. But I ask once again; does God support Partial Birth Abortion? Does God want us to have a free choice to serve Him, without government intrusion? Should Chaplains in the armed services be free to talk about Jesus in their prayers? Does God care about the poor, the widow and the orphan? All these questions should inform our decisions. But most of all we should ask God what He is saying, not what we feel because of a person’s past, or foolishness of the present. Ask God who is most open to be influenced by the Holy Spirit.

It is out of character for me to post an article on politics. Yet this is a reflection of my prayers and concerns for God’s kingdom to flourish once again in the hearts of men and women in this great land. "May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in His sight." Written by David Hauser
