Book Recommendations

There are various items that are recommended to me each month. I like to read but finding time to read and analyze what is given to me usually takes time. Nevertheless, when something good comes my way I feel obligated to pass the recommendation along.

Here are four books that I believe are good reads but very different in nature. I hope one of them will find its way into your Christmas stocking or on one of your Christmas lists to a family member or friend. Enjoy!

If you like history then Brian Kilmeade book, Thomas Jefferson and the Tripoli Pirates, is the book for you. It is an easy read, very interesting, and full of history most people never studied in school nor is commonly talked about today. It is a story that reads like a ‘modern day thriller’, it has life’s lessons with at times Christian principles in the mix, and it challenges us to have courage in the face of unknowns.

Battle Ready by Steve Farrar is a must for all Christians to read. Steve Farrar has written a few books, all are worthy of finding a way into your personal library, but this particular book will assist you with understanding the will of God and how to claim it for your life. You must have courage to do God’s will and the biblical story of Joshua and Caleb finding their way into the Promise Land is your guide. It is very easy to read and easy to apply…it will change your life!

The book, Outrageous Courage, by Kris Vallotton will be one of those books you will read over and over. The stories are challenging, unbelievable, and supernatural. You will ask yourself throughout the book, can I also do that? This book will challenge your ability to be obedient to God’s voice. It will move you to have faith you thought never would be possible. I rate this book up with the classic Christian book, The Cross and the Switchblade. It is another book about the power of God and how God is willing to do anything for those who can believe in Him.

Last but not least, a delightful book that should not be read silently but read aloud to others. The book, A Silhouette Unopened, The Golden Keys, is by Jan Britt. The story begins, “On a beautiful summer morning, a 10-year old girl sets out on a routine adventure, high in the mountains she calls home. Little did she know that today’s adventure would be unlike any other. Today, she will encounter something special, something divine.” It is a mystery story but with deep Christian meaning and a wonderful story line. It is an ideal book for parents to read to their children; both parent and child will benefit from reading this story of trusting God.
