To fight or not to fight

Prosperity & Fighting

We have erred as Christians. Many of us have allowed others to ‘fight the fight of faith’ while we stood by in the safety of our homes and businesses. God has called all of us to “Put on the whole armor of God.” This is not a request but a command from God. Today’s Israel has learned this lesson but the Christian church has allowed Satan and those who follow him to diminish or halt our efforts and positions on truth.

There are two things all of us must do. These two attributes go hand-in-hand and are ingredients for any revival…to fight and to prosper. Want to prosper, learn to fight using the armor of God. Scripture is very clear about this but little is said or preached about finding the blessings of prosperity through fighting against evil.

There is so much said about giving and thereby prospering in God. This is of course true; one needs to be gracious financially. However, little is said about ‘the doers’ in Christ, those who fight the ‘good fight of faith’ and their reward of financial prosperity in Christ. Two Old Testament examples of this concept are Abraham and David.

Abraham was rewarded after the ‘slaughter of the kings’ when he rescued his nephew. Abraham did not keep his portion of the spoil but gave his total portion (10%) to the King of Peace. (Please note that his portion of 10% was a great deal of money.)

David also was a man who would not avoid a fight against evil. His whole life was one of confronting evil and breaking off the bondage other cultures had over Israel. In the end of his reign he gave about 60 billion dollars toward the building of the temple. Once again, those who fight the ‘good fight of faith’ God blesses financially, and they often turn around and give back to God what God has given them.

This is no mistake on God’s part. God gives to those who stand with Him. We are called to a battle, not against ‘flesh and blood’, but against all that is evil and all spiritual wickedness. In fact, everything that exalts itself against the truth of the Gospel and the will of God we should be confronting.

God will bless you but you need to fight—be bold and courageous even as Israel took the promise land and God blessed them. It is time we answered the call to fight. Not for our sakes but for His Sake. He loves us and we ought to love Him back—let’s fight using the armor of God. Satan needs to be defeated at all levels of our culture. We must not look to political, legal, or cultural solutions. It is God alone that can do miracles and it is Christ who has already won the battle.

It is you and me that God is calling to partner with Him, to fight with Him, and to laugh at our enemies even as God laughs.
