Why Pray God’s Word?
Part #2 A prophetic & theological word on prayer by Otis & Sue Davis
To Know the Truth: You shall know the Truth and the Truth shall set you free. John 8.32 I pray your Word, O Lord to help me see and believe the Truth of your Word and of your Holy Spirit.
To Pray the Words of Eternal Life: Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.” John 6.68 niv So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. Isaiah 55.11 niv These words are not my words, they are your words, eternal words, ancient words from the beginning. I pray them with all expectation that they will not return empty but will accomplish your will and may I also accomplish your will.
To Find Forgiveness and Healing: And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins. Mark 11.25 niv I humble myself to pray, to seek and to ask forgiveness for others so I may be forgiven and healed. Help O Lord not to hold on to anything against anyone, to Let it go! So I am not held by it.
To Find a Place to Stand: And we know ALL things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to his purpose. Romans 8.28 Stand on this Truth by believing, praying, and letting it be your safe and secure place to stand and to live. God’s Truth sustains us in ALL things even when we don’t understand, we don’t live on explanations, we live on true promises. Heavenly Father your Son Jesus is the only true foundation, the chief cornerstone, the Rock. There is no other, all other is sinking sand.
To See Reality: As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55.9niv When we pray God’s Word we look at our situation thru the lens of God’s Truth. We see from his higher perspective.
To Be in Sync: But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:8-9 niv I am praying and asking you Oh Lord to help me set my expectations and goals in accordance with your higher timing, ways, and thoughts.
To Be Whole, Full of Joy: I am the true vine and my Father is the vinedresser, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. "My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be my disciples. These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full. John 15:1,5,7,8,11 NASU
Apart from you we can do nothing and were dying withering unfruitful branches dangling useless. We pray and ask Oh Lord that we are abiding in you and your words are abiding in us, forming one complete fruitful organic vine flowing with life. In this vital unity of life we receive purpose, motivation, joy, and energy to bear much fruit, which glorifies our Heavenly Father. The Heavenly Vinedresser with patient skill has cut us off and grafted us in and continues pruning to make us even more fruitful.
To Worship: Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth." John 4:23-24 NIV Oh Lord, we pray and seek not man-made buildings or organizations, but a structure greater, grander, more magnificent; an Elegant Gleaming City of Light on a hill.
