Building Character of the Month Series

God changes one’s character so you can change the culture around you. God does nothing in a vacuum. It becomes our duty if and when God touches our lives to touch the lives of others in our societies.

Because of this very reason, it is why God sends revivals among us. Without the moving of the Holy Spirit our cultures would become so dark and full of evil nothing good would take place. God sends revivals ‘every so often’ into national societies so His will would be accomplish on earth. It takes character to respond to the beginning of Spirit led revivals.

We often do not realize that a revival is taking place. It was like this with me during the beginnings of the Jesus Movement. I saw signs of something unique among an unlikely group of college age young people, and had no idea what was about to take place.

I am reminded of the Scripture, “Does anything good come out of Nazareth?” Before Jesus arrived on the scene John the Baptist was washing sins away in the Jordan River—people confessing their sin—this had never been done before.

I have recently noticed signs of another revival in America—a revival I had been telling you that would soon come to America and that we must be praying for God to send it to us.

Revival depends on character—individuals that want more of God but not just for themselves but for all others. This is the character God is looking for and what your prayers and personal character traits should look like:

1. Tell God you want to ‘come-home’. “I am a prodigal son/daughter and I want to come home God.”

2. Pray: “God, give me a ‘Spirit of Adoption’, I want you to be my Father and I your servant.”

3. Be not only broken in repentance but learn to and be a person of thankfulness. “God cause a spirit of thankfulness to be upon me for your glory alone.”

4. Last of all, “God, make me who I was always meant to be, not who I want to be. Make it happen—‘who I am in you’—how you see me—make it happen!”

When we show ‘the characteristic of revival’ in our lives then the love of God moves in among us and the light of revival begins. Revival begins with you and me—I see the signs already in America—thank you God for loving us—Come Lord Jesus, Come.
