You ask me

You Asked Me, I’ll Tell You

The Bible offers great insight into what it takes to have a sincere and impactful ‘Jesus type revival’. All movements of the Holy Spirit, as well as, individual nations ‘spiritual awakenings’ had one common attribute.

Do not let Biblical scholars or your Bible classes ‘white-wash’ what and how God brought revivals to mankind over the last 2000 years. God has not changed and the Bible gives specific requirements for revival type movements.

We know in the Book of Nehemiah that revival began when the people heard the word of the Lord read and they broke into great repentance. Billy Graham’s ministry was exactly the same. Billy quoted the Bible, make a convincing argument for it’s existence and people came by the thousands to repent and accept the Gospel of Christ.

The Great Awakening in America began with a call to repentance. Preachers would gather in public squares or fields and Colonial Americans would listen and begin crying in great numbers, repenting of their sin and many would be baptized in water. What does that remind you of, yes, the ministry of John the Baptist.

Book of Revelation has much to say about God moving among His church and throughout the earth in the last days. Once again, Revelation speaks of ‘repentance’, a turning from sin and believing in Jesus Christ. The Jesus Movement of the 70’s was a prime example of what Revelation is talking about.

You want revival? You want a life that has meaning and full of hope? You want to change your community for Christ? Learn to repent! “Blessed are the poor in spirit for they have the Kingdom of Heaven on earth” Matthew 5:3. When we are poor (not monetarily) that is to say, when we are “contrite” in a constant state of repentance and being broken over the sin in our lives, God brings what is in heaven to us on earth.

Do you want a taste of heaven before you get there? Then repent: repent often, repent with tears, stay broken and humble, tell God you are sorry quickly and sincerely, be and stay in a state of repentance. If and when you do this, all that is in heaven will be yours. It is God’s promise and we have seen this happen over and over again through out history for those who desired revival more than life itself.

You asked me, this is my answer—want revival, want Jesus then repent always!
