Cries for help

Cries for Help

God is listening, prayer works, and God answers cries for help. We have had two hurricanes recently. Irma was to have done damage beyond repairable and Harvey was immensely destructible. Now after the fact we have seen not only the good people coming to the rescue, but we realize that God heard our prayers of need and answered them speedily.

I wonder what we could have done if we firmly believed that God is God over all His creation that He can calm any storm. Jesus did not worry about anything Mother Nature could stir up. He calmed the storm after His disciples woke Him, fearing they would die. And, then you have Him walking on the waves of the storm unafraid of the fury and strength of the storm.

We often trivialize coming tragedies or place too many Scriptures as metaphors, thereby limiting inherent spiritual truths and the nature of God. Oh, that we would believe as a little child. It was obvious that God was answering prayers of His people before, during and after Irma traveled over Florida. I hope we are thankful to Him who does all things well.

Life is not without the unexpected or without devastation. I do not understand how people cannot be a believing Christian. There is way too much heartache in this life to go it alone and not having the Holy Spirit, as our Comforter would be unbearable.

I would like things easier like I said yesterday. I know God is watching out for me, and I am to watch out for others. That is how love works—He loves me and I am to love others. I think this is a fair bargain if there were such bargains with God.

But next time God, I will be praying that You calm the storms before they hit landfall. Why, well I know you can do all things and it is my faith in you that you love to see me operating in. Your faith residing in me—it can move the mountain and calm the raging sea.
