A Fraud
Fraud: One who defrauds, a cheat; one who assumes a false pose, an impostor, a sham; a deceptive deliberate practice in order to secure unfair or unlawful gain. (American Heritage Dictionary)
No one likes a fraud. Nevertheless, everyone is a fraud in some way or fashion. We try to be someone who we are not. We want to be admired in the eyes of others. There is nothing wrong with being an honest and good person, yet we all fail miserably at being whom we are in Christ or should be.
The first thing we all must do is say, “I’m a fraud.” This is the first step to becoming real, honest, and who you were always meant to be. Stop blaming others and yourself—just admit you are not who you ought to be.
There are many people who often live a life of fraudulent scams: politicians, university professors, gays, journalists, actors, the homeless, professional athletics, fashion designers, and salesmen. Do I need to say more? All of us know such people. If you define yourself by what you do, you are an impostor.
We should not define ourselves by where we live, what we wear, whom we socialize with, how much money we make, our ethnic background, or where we go to church. I do not care what your title is or your credentials. I only what to know if you are who you are supposed to be in Christ. What does God say you are? We need to find who we were always meant to be. What is your calling? What did God create you to do? What are the dreams, visions, and passions that Jesus has placed in your life?
You ask, “Who am I?” I am merely the son of John and was born and raised in Fresno. That is all you really need to know about the biological Steve. What God says I am—I could tell you, but I think that you need to find that out for yourself. I just want you to know Jesus Christ and Him crucified in me. It is Jesus in me that you should see—that is enough for me.
