Wise Men Still Seek Him

Article #1 Christmas 2018

As the Bible states, “Stupidity is all around us and wisdom is hard to find,” Steve’s interpretation of Proverbs. “It is easier for us to believe in a lie than to accept the truth,” once again Steve’s interpretation of Proverbs. Man often accepts ignorance over being a student of enlightenment. Besides, becoming ‘smart’ takes effort and becoming ‘an intellectual’ requires a change in one’s character.

When I became a professor at a large Christian university on the west coast, I was amazed at how many ignorant professors there were trying to teach students to be smart. Oh, they had knowledge of certain subjects but the application of knowledge (or the finding of wisdom) in order to change one’s outlook on life along with a paradigm switch in one’s character was hard to come by in most classes.

This next series of articles is about wisdom. How to get it, how to apply it, and what it looks like. I am not taking the ‘usually road’ to acquire wisdom but the ‘road less traveled’ approach to wisdom that demands application. If wisdom is only what you are thinking then you do not have wisdom. Wisdom demands decision-making, making life-changing choices. Wisdom is hard to come by and even harder to keep.

I will be sharing not just my perspective on wisdom but will be sharing what others have found regarding wisdom working in their lives. My view of life states that wisdom comes only from the Father of Lights but He offers wisdom freely by placing wisdom all around us if only we would take Him up on receiving His wisdom. This is why I am calling the series of articles, “Wise Men Still Seek Him.”

However, make no mistake, one can have Jesus but not His wisdom. One can call oneself a Christian yet could be the dumbest person sitting in a church. My hope is to help you reject the lies of ignorance and attain to the wisdom that will make you a rich person with the ability to love and be loved. It is this wisdom that Jesus came to offer to us and it is only wise men and women that can find it. Wisdom demands the offering of love and the acceptance of humility; this is why wisdom is often hard to find in today’s society.
