Got the fire? You need the fire!

Why Do I Need God’s Fire, Anyway?

The Fire Series, part 3

Hey Steve, “Why do I need God’s fire anyway? I am doing just fine with what God has given me.” My reply is, “What does the Bible say about fire and what can God’s fire do for you? Do you really think you are doing OK? Are you perfect as Paul stated, ‘Be perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect’?”

Do you really think the disciples of Jesus at the time of the Pentecost were not praying for “Fire”? Of course, they were because of what the New Testament tells us. John the Baptist told everyone about how Jesus was going to “baptize with the Holy Spirit and with Fire” (Mathew 3:10-11 and Luke 3:16). They wanted it and were waiting for "Fire".

You will know if you got God’s fire if your life is indeed different. Do you act like an Acts of the Apostle disciple of Christ? Is your life always being ‘cleaned up’ by the Holy Spirit? Have you been ‘tried’ lately as Christ was tried by the devil after the Holy Spirit came upon Him? The Bible says Christ was driven by the Holy Spirit into the desert and was tempted by the devil for 40 days—40 days of fasting (no food or water), by Himself, as the Bible says in many different verses ‘as gold is tried in the fire’.

If we do not have the judgment of God bearing down on our lives, then the Bible says we are not sons and daughters of God. We must allow the fire of God to work on us and within us, changing us and getting rid of everything that is not of the Holy Spirit.

You are no good to God, if you only have the fruits and gifts of the Holy Spirit working in your life. God wants you (the temple of the Holy Spirit) to be holy, sanctified, cleaned, prepared, and ready to do God’s will. We must have this Fire! So, let’s pray for the ‘fire that comes from God’, knowing that it is the fire of God that will challenge the earth and try every work to see if it is from God or Satan.

Jesus, give me that fire—the fire from heaven. Fire that will make me pure and righteous ready for the Master’s purposes. This is what Jesus (my Master) would want me to do.
