Unable to Forgive
I see this often within the Body of Christ—the lack of forgiveness and the healing justice of God. When someone within our group/church/Christian family sins, we did not offer them forgiveness even though they repented and asked for kindness and mercy from the very people that were their friends.
The Body of Christ is self-righteous when they do not give forgiveness freely and willingly. We simply judge others and use the justification—“If I did not sin like that then I am not willing to forgive your sin.” This behavior is a sign of pride and arrogance—"I am better than you” syndrome.
When did Jesus ever say this attitude and behavior was OK. This is religious pride it is ‘hypocrisy’ in action, which the Bible has lots to say about. Hypocrisy will not only keep you out of heaven, but your judgment will be more severe and an embarrassment to Christ.
Anytime you judge without mercy you are in danger of hell and fiery judgment. One cannot receive mercy from God, nor will you find your name in the Book of Life. God forgives us, and we need to offer forgiveness to others quickly and willingly—this is how it works in the Body of Christ.
Question: You know of anyone you broke off a friendship with because you could not forgive their sin(s) and did not offer them a chance to make things, right? If you have then you just kept yourself from receiving forgiveness from Jesus Christ. If you want forgiveness that is fulfilling, life-changing, and that makes you new, inside and out, start forgiving others before you ask forgiveness from God—don’t be a hypocrite which will make you bitter, lonely, and rejected by the Holy Spirit!
