As I Watched…
Up early today and watched the moon slide behind the western mountains and looked east to where the sun was coming up but only the dim early morning light was arising.
As I watched the sheep were up on the mountain behind the house eating on the lush green grass that was once again on the hillside due to all the rain and snow. They were standing in the light of the sun, but I could not see the sun yet from the patio of my home.
As I gazed at the mountains around me, I listened to a song, a song I love, and often listen to the lyrics while eating breakfast. A song that humbles me and makes God great, loving, and worthy to be praised.
I looked to the top of the mountains/hills around me wanting to catch a glimpse of the Angels of God standing over me and around me on the hilltops. Humbling myself and am so grateful to Jesus for all He has done for me.
So, I stood there, lifted my hands to heaven, talking to God, and sing toward the sheep above me while my eyes filled with tears—so grateful to God and Jesus’s love for me. “God let me always stand in your presence and worship you all the days of my life!”
The lyrics to the song, Who Am I, filled my heart and humbled me causing my heart to fear the Lord and receive God’s will into my life, into my mind, soul, heart, and strength, to give God alone my praise:
Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth
Would care to know my name, would care to feel my hurt?
Who am I, that the Bright and Morning Star
Would choose to light the way for my ever-wandering heart?
Not because of who I am, but because of what You’ve done
Not because of what I’ve done, but because of who You are.
I am a flower quickly fading, here today and gone tomorrow
A wave tossed in the ocean (ocean), a vapor in the wind
Still, You hear me when I’m calling, Lord, You catch me when I’m falling
And You’ve told me who I am
I am Yours, I am Yours
Who am I, that the eyes that see my sin
Would look on me with love and watch me rise again?
Who am I, that the voice that calmed the sea
Would call out through the rain and calm the storm in me?
Not because of who I am, but because of what You’ve done
Not because of what I’ve done, but because of who You are.
I am a flower quickly fading, here today and gone tomorrow
A wave tossed in the ocean (ocean), a vapor in the wind
Still, You hear me when I’m calling, Lord, You catch me when I’m falling
And You’ve told me who I am (I am)
I am Yours
Not because of who I am, but because of what You’ve done
Not because of what I’ve done, but because of who You are.
I am a flower quickly fading, here today and gone tomorrow
A wave tossed in the ocean (ocean), a vapor in the wind
Still, You hear me when I’m calling, Lord, You catch me when I’m falling
You’ve told me who I am (I am)
I am Yours
I am Yours, I am Yours, oh
Whom shall I fear? Whom shall I fear?
‘Cause I am Yours, I am Yours
