There are others

July 13, 2024 WWJWMTD by Steve, the son of John (2SoJ)

I Am Sure, There Are Others

I am sure there are others in the Body of Christ doing what the Holy Spirit has moved me to do.

Two to three months ago the Holy Spirit was moving me to pray for protection for Donald Trump and his family. I have been honoring His request, praying for protection, safety, and help for the Trump family the past few weeks. I believe in prayer and God’s willingness to protect those who He loves and wants to do His will.

I have learned over time to obey the advice and instruction of Jesus Christ: “When you pray go into your closet and shut the door.” God wants all of us when we pray to shut out the world and all other voices (shutting the door on the world) and direct our prayers as God gives us insight and perception, to pray prayers to God alone, never ever directing them to others!

I am sure others were directed to pray as God was directing me. Now what happened today (July 13th) was covered by the prayers of Christians. God wanted His people to act and obey His directive and pray for Donald Trump’s safety. God honored our prayers and I rejoice in the faithfulness of Jesus; my prayers were answered!

I am writing this as a testimony to the faithfulness of God and the love of Jesus.

Not your typical July 4th article

July 4, 2024 WWJWMTD by Steve, the son of John (2SoJ)

Not Your Typical July 4th Article

(Job, Christ & You)

Every Christian thinks that once he or she repents, all is forgiven, and God now loves you and will protect you. That line of thinking is not based on Biblical teachings. There are consequences for our sins and effects that can follow us all the days of our lives.

Recently a prominent Christian pastor resigned from his Church. It sent shockwaves through the leadership of America’s churches. What? He was forgiven! How can that be? He did not hide his sin! Why would God allow this to happen? I have never met Robert Morris, the founder of Gateway Church who resigned from his job as its senior pastor last month. This article is not directed to him, but I was asked by a close friend, Rev. D. Hauser, to write what I understand about God and Bible teachings. I do know that all Christians need to be humbled and understand that the wisdom of God is above our thinking processes and our rationale for God’s judgment. There are three truths that we all must understand and follow. We cannot follow Christ into heaven without these truths working in our lives.

One, the Book of Job has lots of insight into the ways of our Father. Job was perfect the Bible says and Job was protected by God for Job’s believing and following God in all his ways but fell none the less and Job was made a better man for it. God allowed for everything Job had to be taken away from him. Job now had to find his way back to God. Satan’s job—to steal, kill, and destroy, and this is what Satan did to Job. The one biblical attribute or quality Job did not have was the ‘fear of God’. The Bible says in Proverbs 9:10-12, New International Version (NIV), The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For through wisdom, your days will be many, and years will be added to your life. If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you; if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer. No fear, no wisdom! As Christians we must have the ‘Fear of God’ which is, “Whatever God does, whatever God does, it is always righteous and just and our duty is to only believe, humble ourselves, and repent.”

As I am sure you know Jesus when He was praying before His death on the cross prayed that what He was about to experience would not happen but deferred rather to the will of His Father and said, “Not my will but your will be done.” The Bible makes this statement that His prayers were heard because ‘He feared God’. Christ had and chose the will of His Father but gave to Christ all he asked for—to have all the Glory He had before His life as a man on the earth.

Two, in Mathew 5:23-25, New International Version (NIV), Jesus is speaking, ”Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First, go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.

25 “Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still together on the way, or your adversary may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison.”

Too often there are things in our past that have never been resolved, and Jesus is giving us wisdom on how to address these acts/behaviors of sin. These sins cannot be forgotten or forgiven us less we listen to the Holy Spirit and resolve not only our sins but also our iniquities (the impact of our sins on others—the consequences of our sins). The Holy Spirit’s job is to convict of sin, righteousness, and judgment. I must warn you not to resolve any evil deed unless the Holy Spirit directs you to do so. Only the Holy Spirit can do this, and He will direct your way how, when, and what to do or say to people you have sinned against, but failure to act when He directs you to go and resolve your sinful behavior will only result in Satan’s judgment on your life.

Three, what about you? Do not judge or become God’s judge when dealing with other people’s sins! God asked us to show kindness, forgiveness, and being a peacemaker to all who are repentant or in the process of finding forgiveness. If we judge others and do not offer forgiveness, then God is not about to forgive us of our sins. Job’s friends failed Job the Bible says, and Job had to forgive them and prayed that God would forgive them also.

God placed all our sins on Christ during His death, and I mean everyone’s sins, iniquities, and sicknesses, as well as all wrong and hateful thoughts, actions, and motives that are not good, wholesome, and righteous. Our sins became Jesus’s sins and Jesus still forgave each one of us. Jesus made all things right, so we must do the same. We must forgive others (and ourselves), bear each other’s burdens, and mourn for each other by standing in the gap, carrying our cross for others as Christ carried His cross.

Jesus did God’s will and it is time for you to do God’s will. Let’s fear God together and do what God asks of us—leaving our gift at the altar of God. It’s your turn now!

Sugar and Sin

June 24, 2024 WWJWMTD by Steve, the son of John (2SoJ)

#7: America ‘Hanging in the Balance’ a Biblical Warning!

Sugar & Sin/To Pray or Not to Pray

Try as I can, yet I cannot keep us with what God is presently orchestrating in America and throughout the world. Since the beginning of 2024, the world has been changing, and Biblical prophecy is happening all around us.

There continue to be signs in the heavens with pictures of the galaxy that amaze and change what we know and believe about how the universe works. Then there is Mother Nature who is acting erratically and in such ways that we have never experienced, surprising climatologists.

The changes in Europe’s political structures, the increase in wars, Israel fighting back for its right to exist, and people across the globe standing up for Jesus Christ—their testimonies being noted in the news media, surprising the most liberal news outlets.

What does this remind you of? Biblical prophecy being fulfilled right in front of us—The Revelation of Jesus Christ written by the Apostle of John. Every verse of the Bible will be fulfilled to the fullest before Christ comes back. What a great time to be a Christian!

But Christ’s coming does not come without tribulation, persecution, the rise of the anti-Christ, and so much more. As I mentioned in the past, this year would be like a recession and has shown all the signs of a recession, but the US Government has been pouring trillions of dollars into the economy trying to stop that from happening. Next year a possible depression, not like what we experienced in the 1930s but a depression still the same.

As sugar destroys and attacks your body so sin attacks not only your body but the whole Body of Christ if we allow it to continue to live within us. If you study the effects of sugar in our bodies, you will understand how sin works within us to destroy us. Your body cannot overcome sugar, and neither can you overcome sin by allowing it to exist in your spiritual body. As we must stop eating sugar and allow our body to heal, we must also repent of our sins, asking for spiritual healing from sin and its negative effects in our lives, and then begin the walk with Christ, keeping us from temptation. Sin is like sugar on steroids, destroying all the good in us.

There is one thing that stands in the way of evil and that is your prayers. Satan will have his way unless you pray. What God has said He would do and judge the world for their sin and their rejection of Jesus Christ will not change—His will be done, and Christ will return.

For example, in the 2020 election for president there were prophets that spoke and said do not worry Donald Trump will be president. This did not happen. Was it God’s will for Trump to be President in the 2020-2024 election cycle? Mostly likely yes. What went wrong? The Church allowed the prophets to dictate to us what to do—WE FAILED TO PRAY. The Bibles warns against this and still the Church refuses to take its place as the Body of Christ, ununified and without check and balances within its members to know when God is speaking and when man is speaking.

The Body of Christ is at a crossroads again. Are you going to pray and change history or are you merely going to sit in church and allow others to do your thinking? Where is your unity? Where are your prayers? You cannot just hear from God, but you must also see God—remember the testimony of Job. “I heard but now I see, so I humble myself and repent in front of God.” God’s will requires prayer, humility, repentance, and turning history away from the will of Satan and his followers. There are so many people who have the mark of the beast on their foreheads, you need to ask God for insight and eyes to see the enemy in front of you.

Pray, pray, and then pray some more. Read and believe the Bible more and more, do not let one verse of the Bible go unfilled in your life. Do not look back, only look ahead to Christ coming back and God’s will taking place in everything around you. YOU ARE IN A BATTLE!

Jesus Failed?

June 7, 2024 WWJWMTD by Steve, the son of John (2SoJ)

The Jesus Who Failed

Yes, Jesus failed. Everyone especially His disciples wanted His ministry to end in a different way. Jesus being tried, tortured, and killed was not what anyone expected.

Let’s list the facts in the case of His failure:

1. Jesus saw it coming and spoke about it but did not do anything to stop it.

2. Jesus was arrested by soldiers carrying weapons, using ‘force’ in His arrest.

3. Jesus had multiple trials, one by the Jewish court, by a Roman judge/magistrate, and by Jewish people all done under the cover of night so no one would come to His aid.

4. He spoke nothing in His defense but agreed with the Jewish Court that ‘He was the Son of God’.

5. He was beaten, stripped naked, nailed to a cross without receiving help with the pain, and lastly, stabbed with a spear after His death to make sure He was indeed dead.

6. His judgment was conducted in such a way that was illegal according to Jewish and Roman Laws, but God did not do anything about it.

A side note: Does any of this sound familiar to what we hear is taking place in our nation?

Let’s take another look at Jesus, the Christ, the son of Joseph:

1. Jesus spent the hours before His arrest, crying and calling out to God ‘to not allow all of this to take place’. He saw it coming and spent hours in prayer with crying and under great stress.

2. Jesus asked God three times to ‘not let this happen’ to Him but prayed to God knowing ‘God can do anything’ and God could accomplish what He wanted without Him (Jesus) i.e. having to die a tragic, humiliating, and hurtful death.

3. God was listening but did not answer, Jesus was on His own. God placed all the world’s sins, iniquities, sickness, hate, hurt feelings, bad decisions, and anything not done in love upon His Son, Jesus. Instead, God looked the other way and allowed His son to be sent to hell.

4. What did Jesus do? He accepted His calling, He accepted all the sins, sicknesses, and wrong behavior of every individual on earth. The Bible says, “Jesus feared God”. What is that? Jesus feared God and said, “Whatever you decide to do or not to do, it is righteous and just.” This is what Job had to do and say, “God, what you do is always right and just, and who am I to questions your decisions.”

5. What saved Jesus? It was not faith, not hope, not love but the FEAR OF GOD! Because Jesus feared God, God did not leave Jesus in hell nor did all the world’s sin and sickness over-power and overcome Jesus Christ—the grave could not hold Him!

This is the Jesus who failed—the world, His enemies, and Christ’s friends/disciples believed He failed. Satan tried to get Christ to fail but Jesus trusted God even in death and stood upon the Fear of God. What do you fear? The only fear we should have says, that “Whatever you do or do not do, it is always righteous and just. I trust in you and not what I want to happen or happens to me.” The ‘Fear of God ‘is more powerful than you and I can imagine.

Jesus and the Storm

June 4, 2024 WWJWMTD by Steve, the son of John (2SoJ)

Every Bible Scripture Has Infinite Applications

This article is an example of God’s Wisdom. We must not limit a biblical scripture to man’s ability to apply any Scripture to a simple way of thinking. The Holy Spirit does not need our help, He alone interprets, applies, and manifests the meaning of God’s Word. Take for instance the story of Jesus Walking on the Water. It is important to read this story in all the Four Gospels, each one tells this story a little differently.

1. Jesus is not just walking on the water, but His feet have super glue on His sandals because he is not slipping on the water but easily walks up and down the waves without slipping. Note: It’s easy to walk on water but in a storm, this is a totally different miracle. God takes everything into account when doing a miracle—do not limit God’s ability or power.

2. Jesus was not planning to help His disciples; He knew they would make it to the other side—using their own efforts they would have gotten to their destination. Note: if you want to use your own effort and game plan God will let you do this, but it often does not include Jesus or the power of the Holy Spirit. You get the credit, but God wants all credit, we only need to be meek and humble.

3. Peter could only get to Jesus by getting out of the boat and into the storm. Note: Jesus was not going to get into the boat but when you request, choose, and react to Christ—this is your step of Faith, by making a decision; then God must respond to you. We are not waiting for God, but Jesus is waiting for you to get out of your safety net and comfort zone and get into the storm.

4. Jesus knows you are going to fail if you see the storm and not Him once you get into the storm. Jesus knows this but He will never leave you there sinking and in fear. Peter cried out to Jesus and Jesus came immediately and Jesus and Peter were instantly in the boat. Note: God will change His course of action and direction when we are in trouble when we are doing His will. He never will never leave us—does this sound familiar? Where is your faith?

5. Upon Jesus and Peter entering the boat, the Bible states it was immediately at the intended destination. Jesus does not waste time when He enters the boat but instantly takes everyone in the boat to the shore of the lake. Note: Jesus never leaves us in a storm, and everyone gets a free ride out of the storm to the intended destination. However, we must understand that even though it was only Peter who got out of the boat, it was everyone because of Peter who got a free ride to the shore out of the storm. If you respond to Christ, God takes everyone connected with you to receive the benefit of your faith. There are countless verses in the Bible that support this conclusion.

I find this story full of wisdom and insight into how God works, an example of God’s infinite wisdom, and why our response to God must be through faith. If only we would get out of the comfort of our own efforts and into the storm where Jesus is, we would be changed forever, and the people close to us would benefit from our ‘faith response’ to Jesus walking on the water. Oh, by the way, you will not at first ever recognize Jesus in the storm. His plan is to allow you to struggle in the storm until you step into the storm that Satan created to stop you from going where God wants you to be—the other side of the sea.

Building without Christ

June 3, 2024 WWJWMTD by Steve, the son of John (2SoJ)

Building Under Stress/A Foolish Builder

By Timothy Keller and Otis Davis

Building with inferior materials, which will not last, especially when under stress. There are many examples. Recently a significant increase in contaminated food and drug recalls. Counterfeit Chinese bolts are made to look exactly like the high-stress quality bolts at a cheap price that were installed in important transmission towers which failed causing them to fall. Recently a Boeing airliner exit door ripped off in flight due to missing door bolts not installed during manufacture. There is a video program that documents many failed construction structures. What happened? Quality inspections are an important job but were not properly completed. Critical construction and inspections were casual without scrutiny. The business becomes lacks and over-confident; efficiency and profit are prioritized over quality and safety. Inspectors may have been marginalized losing their power to enforce quality regulations. Company culture that was once a well-oiled machine producing a high-quality product, deteriorates to just a corrupted rusted shell of what it was. Organizations, businesses, society, and culture are given life by living individual people, who become drunk from success, developing an attitude and culture of pride and overconfidence. Resting on past success is dangerous and can set us up for future failure. Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall (Proverbs 16:18 NKJV). Success must be endured with humility, which seems counterintuitive. Better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud. Prov 16:18 NKJV. Humans individually are also in need of regular inspections for success and stress damage.

And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it." Matthew 7:26-27 ESV Build on the Rock of Jesus not the sand of this world. We live in a place and that place is in a nation, like the United States of America or one of the other 200 nations. We were born in one of the nations of the earth, which we did not choose. We are not just building a house to live in we are building a life. And that life is in this world, on the earth. And in this world, there are kingdoms or nations in which we live, pay dues or taxes, laws to be obeyed, and leaders who make the laws. There is another greater better kingdom in which we can live and enjoy. The kingdom of the only true and living God; whose king is king of kings, lord of lords. This kingdom we also can be born again into, by our choosing. Or we can continue living and building in the man-made nation of our original birth. This greater kingdom overlays supersedes all other kingdoms because it is at a higher level.

This God-created world can teach us greater deeper truths of how to build in this world. Job 12:7-8 ESV "But ask the beasts, and they will teach you; the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you; or the bushes of the earth, and they will teach you; and the fish of the sea will declare to you. The Cactus Wren builds its nest, its home, in the Cholla cactus, one of the dangerous cacti, growing 2 inches sharp as glass spines. This cactus provides protection against the bird’s family predators. Like a horse in open country, they did not stumble; like cattle that go down to the plain, they were given rest by the Spirit of the Lord. Isa 63:13-14 TNIV. (Davis, Otis V.)

Solomon sends us to the ant; Agur to the rock badger, the locust, the spider; Isaiah to the ox and the ass; Jeremiah to the stork, the turtledove, the crane, the swallow. Job’s argument is that the same lack of interference on God’s part in the free operations of men in this life; in punishing the wicked and rewarding the good, you see around you in all the lower stages of life. Look to the beasts of the field. Does the Governor of the world interfere to crush the lion, the tiger, the panther, or the wolf from devouring the feebler creation of His hands? Does He come to the rescue of the shrieking, suffering victims? Behold the "fowls of the air." See the eagle, the vulture, the hawk pouncing down on the dove, the thrush, the blackbird, or the robin. Does He interfere to arrest their flight, or curb their savage instincts? "Speak to the earth." See the noxious weeds choking the flowers, stealing away life from the fruit trees, does He send a blast to wither the pernicious herb? Not He. Turn to the "fishes of the sea." Does He prevent the whale, the shark, and other monsters from devouring the smaller tenants of the deep? No; He allows all these creatures to develop their instincts and their propensities. It is even so with man. He allows man full scope here to work out what is in him, to get what he can. (from The Biblical Illustrator) Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. Phil 2:12-13 ESV

Building on the sand of this world. Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, and greed, which is idolatry. Col 3:5 NIV Obviously, neither Paul nor Jesus was talking about literal surgery. Sin does not come from the eye, hand, or foot; it comes from the heart, the evil desires within. After he had named these sensual sins, Paul added, "and greed, which is idolatry" (Col 3:5 b). Greed is the sin of always wanting more, whether it be more things or more pleasures. The greedy person is never satisfied with what he has, and he is usually envious of what other people have. This is idolatry, for greed puts things in the place of God. Money can become a spiritual addiction, and like all addictions, it hides its true proportions from its victims. We take more and greater risks to get ever-diminishing satisfaction from the thing we crave until a breakdown occurs. When we begin to recover, we ask, “What were we thinking? How could we have been so blind?” We wake up like people with a hangover who can hardly remember the night before. But why? Why did we act so irrationally? Why did we completely lose sight of what is right? The Bible’s answer is that the human heart is an “idol factory.” These men have taken their idols into their hearts Ezek 14:3 ESV Like us, the elders must have responded to this charge, “Idols? What idols? I do not see any idols.” God was saying that the human heart takes good things like a successful career, love, material possessions, and even family, and turns them into ultimate things. Our hearts deify them as the center of our lives, because, we think, they can give us significance and security, safety, and fulfillment, if we attain them. We think that idols are bad things, but that is almost never the case. The greater the good, the more likely we are to expect that it can satisfy our deepest needs and hopes. Anything can serve as a counterfeit god, especially the very best things in life. What is an idol? It is anything more important to you than God, anything that absorbs your heart and imagination more than God, anything you seek to give you what only God can give. Because we have died with Christ (Col 3:3), we have the spiritual power to slay the earthly, fleshly desires that want to control us. Our Lord used the same idea when He said, If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. Matt 5:29 NIV

We live in a secular world, with idols, the glittering gods of our age, holding title to the functional trust of our hearts. Many of those idols that we have worshipped for years have come crashing down around us. This is a great opportunity, to briefly experience “disenchantment.” Such times come to us as individuals, when some great enterprise, pursuit, or person on which we have built our hope fails to deliver what we thought was promised. It very rarely comes to an entire society. The way forward, out of despair, is to discern the idols of our hearts and our culture. But that will not be enough. The only way to free ourselves from the destructive influence of counterfeit gods is to turn back to the true one. The living God, who revealed himself both at Mount Sinai and on the Cross, is the only true Lord who, if you find him, can truly fulfill you, and, if you fail him, can truly forgive you. “Setting the mind and heart on things above” where “your life is hid with Christ in God” (Colossians 3:1-3) means appreciating, rejoicing, and resting in what Jesus has done for you. It entails joyful worship, a sense of God’s reality in prayer. Jesus must become more beautiful to your imagination, more attractive to your heart, than your idol. That is what will replace your counterfeit gods. If you uproot the idol and fail to “plant” the love of Christ in its place, the idol will grow back. Rejoicing and repentance must go together. Repentance without rejoicing will lead to despair. Rejoicing without repentance is shallow and will only provide passing inspiration instead of deep change. Indeed, it is when we rejoice over Jesus’s sacrificial love for us most fully that, paradoxically, we are most truly convicted of our sin. When we repent out of fear of consequences, we are not sorry for the sin, but for ourselves. Fear-based repentance (“I’d better change, or God will get me”) is really self-pity. In fear-based repentance, we do not learn to hate the sin for itself, and it does not lose its attractive power. when we rejoice over God’s sacrificial, suffering love for us—seeing what it cost him to save us from sin—we learn to hate the sin for what it is. We see what sin costs God. What most assures us of God’s unconditional love (Jesus’s costly death) is what most convicts us of the evil of sin. Fear-based repentance makes us hate ourselves. Joy-based repentance makes us hate sin. Rejoicing in Christ is also crucial because idols are almost always good things. If we have made idols out of work and family, we do not want to stop loving our work and our family. Rather, we want to love Christ so much more that we are not enslaved by our attachments. Truth shall set us free from the counterfeit gods that control us.

The Knocking at the Door

June 2, 2024 WWJWMTD by Steve, the son of John (2SoJ)

Are You Listening to the Knocking?

Try as you may, it takes character and the Holy Spirit to survive in the last days.

Then they were glad to take him into the boat, and immediately the boat was at the land to which they were going. John 6:21 ESV

Jesus Leaves the Multitude (John 6:15-21). Jesus compelled the disciples to get into the boat (Matt 14:22; Mark 6:45) because He knew they were in danger. The crowd was now aroused and there was a movement to make Him King. Of course, some of the disciples would have rejoiced at the opportunity to become famous and powerful! Judas would have become treasurer of the kingdom, and perhaps Peter would have been named prime minister! But this was not in the plan of God, and Jesus broke up the meeting immediately. Certainly, the Roman government would have stepped in had a movement begun.

Did Jesus know that a storm was coming? Of course. Then why did He deliberately send His friends into danger? Quite the opposite is true: He was rescuing them from greater danger, the danger of being swept along by a fanatical crowd. But there was another reason for that storm the Lord has to balance our lives; otherwise, we will become proud and then fall. The disciples had experienced great joy in being part of a thrilling miracle. Now they had to face a storm and learn to trust the Lord more. The feeding of the 5,000 was the lesson, but the storm was the examination after the lesson. Sometimes we are caught in a storm because we have disobeyed the Lord. Jonah is a good example. But sometimes the storm comes because we have obeyed the Lord. When that happens, we can be sure that our Savior will pray for us, come to us, and deliver us. In writing the account of this event years later, perhaps John saw in it a picture of Christ and His church Christ is in heaven interceding for us, but we are in the midst of the storms of life, trying to reach the shore. One day, He will come for us, and we shall reach the port safely, the storms all past.

Actually, there were several miracles involved in this event. Jesus walked on the water, and so did Peter (Matt 14:28-32). Jesus stilled the storm, and instantly the boat was on the other shore. Of course, all of this happened at night so that only Jesus and His disciples knew what had occurred. Jesus had led His people into the green pastures (John 6:10), and now He brought them into the still waters (Ps 23:2). What a wonderful Shepherd He is!

As you read the Gospel records, note that our Lord was never impressed by the great crowds. He knew that their motives were not pure and that most of them followed Him in order to watch His miracles of healing. "Bread and circuses" was Rome’s formula for keeping the people happy, and people today are satisfied with that kind of diet. Give them food and entertainment and they are happy. Rome set aside ninety-three days each year for public games at government expense. It was cheaper to entertain the crowds than to fight them or jail them.

We must never be deceived by the "popularity" of Jesus Christ among certain kinds of people today. Very few want Him as Savior and Lord. Many want Him only as Healer or Provider, or the One who rescues them from problems they have made for themselves. "And ye will not come to Me, that ye might have life" (John 5:40).

Gay Pride Month

June 1, 2024 WWJWMTD by Steve, the son of John (2SoJ)

Gay Pride Month

Gay Pride Month dedicated to the celebration and commemoration of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and other sexualities held in June every year is fast approaching.

It seeks to honor LGBTQ history and the challenges the community faces, past and present, and is now celebrated by many individuals and churches that affirm and cheer on LGBTQ Pride.

But what if the LGBTQ life hasn’t been or is now a season of pride or the party for some of our neighbors, loved ones, or ourselves – that the world says it is?

Personally speaking, it is not (pride) I remember and experienced that in some respects continues to haunt me even today.

There are some life realities gay pride could not even begin to heal. Completely and totally by God’s grace, I have survived homosexuality.

While those words correctly define my personal reality regarding homosexual practice, my friends did not survive.

If you are experiencing same-sex attraction and are considering embracing the feelings and attractions of such, before jumping into a behavior and identity with highly probable and serious consequences, please get the facts – all the facts.

Sexual pleasure, good in and of itself within the proper context, is nevertheless not an essential requirement for human well-being.

Today, there is no guarantee that social policy is exempt from foolishness. Ultimately, the social pressure that exists to protect “gay” from discrimination has resulted in a tragically dangerous code.

While I personally deplore any and all forms of “gay-bashing” and other hate crimes against homosexuals, the extreme medical risks and the fundamental psychological problems often associated with homosexual practice, cannot be undermined or dismissed.

Today, in America, very little is being offered which promotes the truth about homosexuality and the general public has and is slowly but certainly beginning to believe the many untruths regarding the topic of homosexuality. This did not happen by accident.

In December 1973, by a narrow vote, homosexuality was removed from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorder (DSM) by the American Psychiatric Association. The vote was not based on scientific research but on political pressure from homosexual activists. So much for an individual’s right of self-determination to address their unwanted homosexual feelings and behavior. In a nutshell, the problem is the politicization of psychiatry, psychology, and most definitely, the Bible, to the extent that the freedom to investigate and treat homosexuality has been and continues to be under serious attack.

For some of us, World AIDS Day is not just on December 1st of each year, but rather each and every day of the year.

The phone conversation occurred in 1995. Frank, my very best and only surviving friend of a group of 22 men, called from the hospital in San Francisco. Immediately, I knew something was very wrong.

In 1985, I moved from San Francisco back to Bakersfield, when in October of that year I surrendered my life to Christ and everything got turned upside-down – actually, right-side up.

There was nothing short of a miraculous desire to get to church and remain in church. The only thing I wanted to read was the Bible, attend classes and always be among Christian men and women, worship, and talk, talk, talk, talk, about Jesus.

Occasionally, I would talk to Frank on the phone to check on how life was going. However, our conversations became more and more strained because all I wanted to talk about was the Bible and what was going on at church. Frank, on the other hand, wanted to talk about the party last night and all that went on.

Drifting apart we most definitely were but continued to maintain a long-distance connection if only to hear one another’s voice for a few seconds. We had been close good friends for many years in San Francisco.

One afternoon I received a phone call at work from Frank. His voice was extremely weak, but he still managed to say…

“Phillip, we don’t understand what has happened to you, but you have found something, and whatever it is, keep it up. Keep it up because you have found something. Do it for me and the others. Whatever you do don’t ever come back to this. Promise me, Phillip.”

“I promise, Frank.”

Two days after my last phone conversation with Frank, his mother called to tell me he had passed away.

So, so many are gone, and they left much too soon. I miss each of my friends. I miss them terribly.

Nearly Thirty-nine years ago I made a promise. A promise I have kept, and I intend to keep.

During my 17 years as ‘gay,’ I personally witnessed far too many lives devastated and some taking their own lives over the celebration of ‘gay.’ In each and every case the ruin and carnage were not brought about by the individual trying to resolve their same-gender attraction.

Personally speaking, it is a fact because of very real discrimination, homosexual activists created a brilliant strategic plan to gain across-the-board acceptance. Yet their plan was and is based upon a flawed paradigm to persuade people they were born with same-gender attraction and they cannot change. This strategy has worked. But the biggest losers just may be homosexual men and women who may get everything they think they want, but will they be denied what they truly need?

The welfare of both individuals and society depends upon our facing reality honestly, compassionately, and courageously – which requires facts – all the facts.

A Perfect Gift for Mother’s Day

If you are like so many people you might have bought flowers or candy or a diner at a favorite restaurant but none of those things will last a lifetime. I believe in music for mom and songs she will sing for the rest of her life.

You need to purchase and give with love the album by Katy Nichole, “Jesus Changed My Life”. There are so many songs that speak to a mother’s heart and songs for every occasion or experience in this life.

This album will change even your life—you sons and daughters. It is the best album that has come out in decades and is a sign from God that the outpouring of the Holy Spirit is upon us.

With the world and Satan attacking mothers from every side, we need to support, love, and help mothers everywhere to know they are loved, and that God cares for them. So, do one last thing for ‘your moms’, give music that will touch her soul and place love in her life—love that will replace all the love she gave to you and me.

Happy Mother’s Day to all those moms who loved without expecting love in return.

Ps. Katy not only writes great God-inspired songs but believes in what she sings. Something rare for Christian singers but greatly needed. Moms will love the song, God Is In This Story or Things I Wish I Would’ve Said.
