Does Jesus Call Christians to be Extremists?

Becoming an Extremist for Christ—“Call Me an Extremist”

(An Article by Guest Author)

“I refuse to insult God and grieve the Holy Spirit by my ‘just going to church.’”

What I am about to share is largely due, though not entirely, to the following conversation with a gay activist.

Gay-activist: We have liberals, the press, and society on our side. You have neither the faith nor the strength to fight us, so you might as well just surrender now. We have no intention of stopping until every Christian is discredited and silenced.

Me: Careful. You are messing with the wrong Christian.

Gay-activist: Whoa! Didn’t Jesus tell you to turn the other cheek?

Me: Yes, He did. However, when it comes down to fighting for lost souls, standing in the gap, and speaking the truth about sexual sin, I will not cower in the face of homosexual intimidation. I will endure your harsh rhetoric, insults, and threats but I will not sidestep either truth or grace, being purposed to speak clear truth about this issue and extend grace toward every person – yourself included.

Did you know if you believe that homosexual practice is a sin and what many refer to as the gay lifestyle falls far short of God’s perfect intent for any man or woman in this world, you are an extremist?

There is no question, no doubt the world has changed and right along with those that have changed are – churches (places where people gather). Not, The Church, The Body of Christ – but churches.

Regrettably and tragically, many have become scared speechless and have surrendered to culture because they refuse, and are afraid, of looking at things from God’s standpoint.

The LGBTQ+ agenda is a fundamental issue that no one can afford to ignore. Today liberal judges and courts are making decisions solely based on the shifting moral sands and ever-changing winds of society and our culture.

This is the kind of activist and activism the Apostle warned us about…

“They mouth empty, boastful words and, by appealing to lustful desires of sinful human nature, they entice people who are just escaping from those who live in error. They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity – for a man is a slave to whatever has mastered him” (2 Peter 2:18-19).

Admittedly, there is great division over the issue of homosexual practice which exists in our families, churches, and in our nation. And it is growing.

The Bible is abundantly clear in telling us that God is both unchanging and unmovable. He does not have to tune-in to check a poll on CNN or Fox News to see what He ought to consider righteous behavior for this week. Sir, Madam, just because you have changed does not mean that God has as well.

There are actually those that are sitting around wringing their hands and thinking, “This gay thing is just a lost cause.” Nonsense, it is not. Clearly, those in the “let’s wring our hands” do not know God. They may have a head knowledge of Him, but they do not know Him. So, what should we do? We have no time to lose.

“The people who know their God will be strong and take action” (Daniel 11:32).

Frankly, we do not need to pray and ask God for new strategies. We need to act upon, if not return to, and do what we know we should have been doing all along.

1. First and foremost, we need to repent and ask God to forgive us for our rebellion and disobedience.

2. Pray, intercede for the soul of America like we’ve never prayed before.

3. Get educated. There is no excuse for not applying the truth of Scripture to this issue and to the lives of those with whom you come into contact.

4. Find your voice. Many are hearing more from the gay lobby than they are the Body of Christ.

“Come to church, come to church, come to church!” “Go to church, go to church, go to church!”

How about, “BE THE CHURCH!”

Somewhere along the line we lost our Biblical footing, and we abdicated our authority – the Word of God. Take it back!

Today, right now…

*Pray, “Oh God, revive Your church!”

*Renew your commitment to Biblical authority.

*God created male and female. Return to what God has stated it was in the beginning.

*Recommit to authentic, Biblical marriage.

*Recommit and reconnect to Biblical morality.

*Go with God’s Word in the power of God’s Spirit – speak up, stand up for what is right!

Our fight is not against flesh and blood, but Satan and his degenerate, degrading ways. If we do not fight individually and collectively, we will lose our culture. God is counting on US. I have not done God a big favor simply because I showed up for church.

Climate Change, really?

September 17, 2023 WWJWMTD by Steve, the son of John (2SoJ)

The Earth’s Owner?

“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” (Revelation 4:11 KJV)

I am amazed at the ‘talking points’ the news media and government outlets want all of us to believe that ‘climate change’ is man-made. They think we are stupid, thinking if they keep stating the same illogical and ignorant argument about climate change over and over, we will actually believe it. Of course, there is climate change, but man cannot make the earth’s climate to change dramatically so the earth will fail nor so pervasive, so it is everywhere, affecting everyone.

First, the earth does not belong to humanity, it belongs to God. Secondly, man could never create ‘climate turmoil’ to destroy the climate on earth—even if a nuclear war would happen, the earth would heal itself and make its way back to normal. Thirdly, it is God who promised to destroy the earth one day and do so, preceding the Second Coming of Christ. It is God who is creating ‘climate change’ we indeed see it happening all around the globe.

How and why does God do this? It is because of our sin and like the great flood covering the earth, God will be destroying over half of the world’s population through drought—drinkable water will be done away with, light from the sun will be blocked—darkness only, and the winds will cease—no more wind, clouds, or seasons. Man cannot do this, but God can and will.

I am tired of hearing about climate change as if man can correct it and world sin is not the cause of climate change. Get it right ‘talking points.’ It is God at work and your sin is the cause! God’s plan is to get your attention, and if He does not have it now, He will!

With Hope to Courage to Strength

September 16, 2023 WWJWMTD by Steve, the son of John (2SoJ)

Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart,

All ye that hope in the LORD. Psalm 31:24 KJV

Guest author R.T. Kendall

(Article comes via Otis Davis, my good brother in the Lord,)

Is There Hope For America? Going back to the Old Testament, Joshua was preparing people to come into their inheritance. They had never been that way before. But first they would need to learn to expect what preceded coming into their inheritance. Similarly, the writer of Hebrews was helping his readers understand what they were going through—as part of their preparation. Strange as it may seem, they were undergoing chastening. Could this be the explanation for what you are going through now? It is so easy to forget this. The doctrine of chastening is often neglected when it comes to Christian teaching. And yet it is so comforting when we realize that God’s disciplining us is the explanation of what could be going on in our lives. I now turn to the subject of chastening or disciplining, following the pattern of the writer of the letter to the Hebrews. As soon as he urges us to focus on “looking into Jesus,” who is seated at the right hand of the throne of God, he asks a question: Have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons? “My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary when reproved by him. For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.” —HEBREWS 12:5–6 The word paideuei in Hebrews 12—chastens, disciplines—means enforced learning. It is when God teaches us a lesson. He can be very strict like a relentless schoolteacher who does what it takes to secure the needed change in us. But God carries this out entirely because He loves us. Indeed, He chastens only those He loves. If we were not disciplined, it would show we are “illegitimate children and not sons” (Heb. 12:8). We should therefore rejoice when we are chastened; it is a sign we are truly saved. There are three kinds of chastening: internal, external, and terminal.

1. Internal chastening This is God’s plan A. It’s when God speaks to our hearts through His word. This can be painful. It operates on us. Sometimes God does not use an anesthetic. It cuts. It hurts. After all, the Word of God is “living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart” (Heb. 4:12). As painful as it might be, God dealing with us through His word is the best way to have our problems solved. If God speaks to you through His word—even though you see its demands could cost you a lot, take it! Take it with both hands. It will save you incalculable regret down the road. So when God speaks to you through His word, my advice to you is to say, “Yes, Lord”—then and there.

2. External chastening This is plan B. God turns to this when plan A does not achieve the change in us that He wanted. God spoke His word to Jonah (plan A): “Go to Nineveh, that great city, and call out against it” (Jon. 1:2). God said, “Go,” and Jonah said, “No.” If only Jonah had listened to God’s word—the call that went right to his heart. But he did not heed the word. And God turned to plan B. Because “Jonah rose to flee to Tarshish” (Jon. 1:3) and got on a ship going there, “the LORD hurled a great wind upon the sea, and there was a mighty tempest on the sea” (Jon. 1:4). Plan B began to work when Jonah was in the belly of a fish: “Then Jonah prayed” (Jon. 2:1). Often, God uses plan B to get our attention because we have not sufficiently prayed. What will it take for you to pray? God wants your time. He loves your company. Will it take being swallowed up by the equivalent of a big fish to get you to pray? What we know is it worked with Jonah: “Then Jonah prayed.” Not only that; God secured the response in Jonah He was after. Enforced learning worked. After the fish ejected Jonah and God repeated His original order to go to Nineveh, “Jonah arose and went to Nineveh” Jonah 3:3. Plan B worked.

3. Terminal chastening What if plan B had failed? Answer: Plan C—terminal chastening—would be put into effect. Pray that God does not resort to this in your case. Terminal chastening means death. It is the “sin that leads to death” (1 John 5:16). Christians in Corinth had abused the Lord’s Supper. Paul answered a question they must have asked: Why are people in our church ill, weak, sickly, and some have died? Having pointed out how they had abused the Lord’s Supper (1 Cor. 11:20–29), he then answers, “This is why many of you are weak and ill [plan B], and some have died [plan C]” (v. 30). The generation of Israel that did not make it to the Promised Land were those with whom God was not pleased (1 Cor. 10:5). God swore in His wrath that they would not enter His rest (Heb. 3:11). They died in the wilderness, being an example of terminal chastening. This also goes to show that God expects us to ask why when extraordinarily bad things happen—such as the coronavirus and the violence we have been seeing in America. So, is our double whammy God’s judgment on the United States of America? Yes.

That said, there are five kinds of judgment of God: retributive judgment, gracious judgment, redemptive judgment, natural judgment, and silent judgment. Which of these is God’s judgment on America? First, let me define each of these.

1. Retributive judgment This is when God gets even. It is when His full wrath is poured out. God warned Adam not to eat of a particular tree in the Garden of Eden. Otherwise, he would bring death upon himself (Gen. 2:16–17). Adam disobeyed. “The wages of sin is death” (Rom. 6:23). We read later in Genesis: “All the days that Adam lived were 930 years, and he died” (Gen. 5:5). This is retributive judgment. Retributive means deserved and severe punishment, not to improve a person but to mete out punishment for its own sake. It is like the Mosaic law that requires “eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth” (Exod. 21:24). The biblical teaching of eternal punishment is retributive judgment. It is not for correcting, improving, or changing a person; it is punishment for sin.

2. Gracious judgment This is partly retributive and partly merciful—but it is always a warning. Retributive judgment is the wrath of God poured out in “full strength” (Rev. 14:10). The King James Version renders this as “the wrath of God without mixture.” By contrast, gracious judgment is mixed with mercy. Jesus said, “Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline” (Rev. 3:19). Therefore, where there is gracious judgment, painful though it is, there is also hope. This type of judgment can be partly retributive—to the point of plagues coming. But why? Answer: to induce repentance. When He is angry, God may send judgment, yes. But He is doing it to warn us, to stop us. He may send a plague to turn us around. This is what happened with Jonah. You will recall that when God told Jonah to go to Nineveh, Jonah said no and ran from God. So, God sent a great fish, and it swallowed Jonah. It was judgment, but it was mostly a warning. As we saw previously, God secured the response He wanted in Jonah. Therefore, at the bottom of it all was gracious judgment. Are you running from God?

3. Redemptive judgment This is partly retribution and partly promise. This can be seen on the occasion when the children of Israel murmured against God. God sent poisonous snakes that bit the people. People were dying all over the place. But God ordered Moses to make a fiery serpent and set it up on a pole, and all who were bitten and looked upon the serpent would live (Num. 21:8). Moses held up the serpent of brass, and all who looked on it lived. This then is redemptive judgment. It is a variation of gracious judgment.

4. Natural judgment This is a variation of retributive judgment, with the emphasis being on the inevitable consequences of sin. It is a principle that may be summed up in the saying “You reap what you sow.” There is a natural judgment at work. It could be explained simply as the consequence of sin. It is a natural law at work.

5. Silent judgment This is when God appears to do nothing. This is, to me, in a sense, the scariest judgment of all. If I have learned anything from a study of Romans 1:18–32, it is that when God is angriest, He does nothing. God never loses His temper like you and I do. We may think that if God gets really mad, He is going to show it immediately. But God isn’t like that. “The wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God” (Jas. 1:20, KJV). We may think we can tempt God. We may think we can needle Him. Or challenge Him to send a bolt of lightning. But the angrier God is, the calmer He is because time is on His side. He can wait. He has an awful lot of patience. When Pontius Pilate sent Jesus to Herod, Herod was glad to see Him. He hoped that Jesus might perform a miracle before his eyes. So, Herod questioned Jesus at some length, but Jesus “made no answer” (Luke 23:9). Utter silence. Since Jesus said He only did what He saw the Father doing (John 5:19), we know that this mirrored the Father’s response to Herod. In a word, when God is at His angriest, He doesn’t do anything. He doesn’t send pain. He doesn’t even send a warning. There is no hint that God sent a warning to Sodom and Gomorrah. Suddenly, without warning to its inhabitants, God sent fire and brimstone (Gen. 19). When sin and promiscuity prosper, God may choose to be silent. Those who have defied God go right on in their evil deeds. Remember that David also raised this issue: Fret not yourself because of evildoers; be not envious of wrongdoers! For they will soon fade like the grass and wither like the green herb. —PSALM 37:1–2

America is under God’s judgment right now. Good news. It is gracious judgment. There is hope. Yes. Millions of Christians are praying. God is not being silent. But thankfully it is not God’s silent judgment. It is His gracious judgment. Millions of Christians should be encouraged. It is one of the ways by which He drives us to our knees. We should pray for mercy that God will grant grace by which we may see His glory. Our only hope: another great awakening. The people of Nineveh repented, and God sent great revival. God can do it again, and I believe He will. But He wants us to know His ways.

The Dilemma Within the Crisis/guest author

September 12, 2023 WWJWMTD by Steve, the son of John (2SoJ)

Fake Truth or God’s Truth?

(The Churches’ Dilemma Within the Crisis)

Today, with numbers increasing regarding individuals too afraid to talk about the societal shifts that have occurred and continue to unfold regarding homosexuality and related issues, I assure you, behind the scenes, it is a whole different game.

Based upon individuals and families contacting His Way Out Ministries and my travels through churches of various denominations here in America and overseas, congregation members, by in large, are not being informed, equipped, or educated on the complexities of same-sex attraction and related issues, and as a result are paying a very high price, if not feeling like failures.

Or, as one man shared with me recently, “We’re getting slammed due to a lack of knowledge and practical tools that would help us be more effective in reasoning with and reaching those that promote the ‘gay is good’ notion.”

Indeed, “My people perish for lack of knowledge.” (Hosea 4:6)

It is an irrefutable fact homosexual activists are highly organized, have a strategic plan and are gaining public acceptance with regard to their beliefs and cause. Today, with everyone knowing at least one person who experiences same-sex attraction, why are we, the Church, still so ill-equipped to help those who are being held captive by the brokenness of same-sex attraction? Especially, when it comes to congregation members that are clearly and undeniably hungry to be educated and enlightened.

We are living in a time when Scriptural teaching and clarity regarding homosexual practice should be abundantly clear and unequivocal.

Today, no faithful follower of Christ Jesus should be puzzled or left wondering what the belief of their respective church is on the topic. However, many Christians are wondering because they’ve never once heard it addressed. Frankly, while this is most definitely a shame and beyond tragic, it does explain why many Christians are coming to the conclusion that matters of sexual morality are unimportant, and a Christian is left free to decide for himself what is acceptable and what is not.

The Apostle Paul states clearly, he is “not ashamed of the Gospel because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes,” (Romans 1:6) yet far too many are withholding God’s truth. Is it fear, is it embarrassment causing some to steer away from truth and the unwillingness to step too deeply into it?

Whatever the cause, many Christians are becoming confused because they do not know what true Christianity is, what the Bible teaches and what is required of each and every faithful follower of Christ Jesus largely because they are not being taught the Bible in its entirety.

Not only are believers falling into homosexual sin and legitimizing it but many within the uninformed Church are applauding them as they do. Laws have been changed, same-sex marriage is now legal throughout America and educational systems are becoming more tolerant of homosexual practice by falsely teaching pro-homosexual lessons through health education curriculum. With far too many churches and Christian organizations giving a friendly nod to gay ideology, making Isaiah’s famous warning more relevant than ever:

“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness.” (Isaiah 5:20)

I, for one, continue to believe the Church remains God’s vehicle to reach wounded, broken, hurting humanity. In a world that is rapidly spinning toward accepting everything and tolerating anything, we, the Church, must be very, very careful. God has and He is setting opportunity before us. The Gospel must be the priority for the homosexual – just as it must be for each and every faithful follower of Christ Jesus.

Regardless of how we all have been inundated through the media, movies, television, schools, politics, the internet, and tragically in some cases by various faiths promoting, “once gay always gay,” and “can’t change,” it is well past time for the Church to come out of the closet, educate itself, and replace the many lies and myths about homosexuality being campaigned by pro-gay activists, with the real Scriptural truths and facts about same-sex attraction.

I freely admit there is a price to be paid today for discipling men and women according to all of Christ’s teachings – especially with our present culture pushing for greater and greater approval of iniquity. However, the gospel of Christ remains “the power of God unto salvation for all who believe.” (Romans 1:16)

It seems to me no one need fear God’s judgment when teaching and proclaiming Biblical holiness, as Paul said in Romans 8:36, “but in all these things we will be more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”

If we, the Christian community, remain unwilling to awaken from our slumber and become willing to share God’s Word, His truth, as it pertains to homosexual practice, there can be no doubt the biggest losers will undoubtedly be homosexual men and women who (should things continue as they are) just may continue to get everything they want, but will definitely be denied The One whom they truly need.

God has entrusted us with great responsibility, opportunity, and privilege.

Got angels?

September 10, 2023 WWJWMTD by Steve, the son of John (2SoJ)

Got Angels?

God has angels, lots of them. They are His messengers, but they are also empowered and act like soldiers who make all their decisions as if they are judges over the earth.

Have you ever met one of God’s angels? There are multiple books and personal stories about how God’s angels rescued God’s kids, His saints, individuals who did not cry for help, and of course, the ministers of the Gospel of Christ when trouble came their way.

Angels are for you and me They are to help the ‘heirs of salvation’, the Bible says. You are going to need them, and if you have never encountered one of God’s angels before, you most likely will before Christ’s return. (You do have a personal angel, so get to know it.)

I was introduced to angels during my Sophomore year in college. I was at a church meeting when it was announced that angels from God were present. I immediately started praying that they would minister to me—then it happened. It was as if something just walked inside of me. It felt like an electrical charge—it was amazing how it moved inside of me like a wave and then stopped. When I was just about to jump up out of my seat because I could not take the electrical change anymore (that is what the presence of the angels feels like) it just slowly moved/walked out of my body.

From that moment on, I could always feel an angel of God. Whenever I came close to an angel I could feel them, even from a distance. I have never seen an angel and the Bible says they look like you and me, dressed in the style/clothing of the day, and come to do miracles for us. I cannot recognize them as angelic angels—they look like any other person, but I sure can feel them! I have had many different experiences with angels, no two were alike, and all amazed me—I am thankful to God who loves and helps me.

You will need angels in the last days. Let them help you, do what they say; you will want to know their names, but they will not tell you, their names. They come in all sizes and shapes; just let them do their jobs—their assignment at that specific time and day. Remember, they only know ‘right or wrong’, there is no middle ground, and their decisions are final. So, enjoy the ‘big guy’ that looks over you and learn to depend on them. They are here on earth to help you accomplish God’s will for your life.

Hebrews 13:2“Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.”

Making it through God’s wrath

September 8, 2023 WWJWMTD by Steve, the son of John (2SoJ)

A Series on the Last Days, What Must I Do?

#7 The Jesus That Doesn’t Work

It is easy to feel that God is not listening, paying attention, or just doesn’t care. We want Jesus to make all things better, a kind of utopia on earth. We want Jesus to fix all our problems and reward us with money and material items—this is why many people go to church or believe in God. They want this ‘life on earth’ to be pleasurable and fulfilling.

Show me where God promises all of that? God is not a diner where you can order anything you desire and wait for God to deliver. I rather like the Jesus whom God left alone while Jesus was in the greatest battle of His life. On the cross, He said, “My God, why have you forsaken me?” He felt alone and the presence of God was not there at Calvary supporting Him. This is the Jesus that we love and trust. It is the same Jesus that we should be afraid of as stated in the Bible, “…the wrath of the Lamb” and who will prevail against Jesus’s anger, fearful of His wrath. People will be willing to commit suicide instead of facing His Second Coming.

What will save you? The fear of the Lord, which says, “Whatever you do, whatever you decide God, it is always righteous and just. God’s will on earth is appropriate, fair, and good…no matter what.” This is the manifestation of the fear of God in our lives and throughout the earth when we accept what God decides to do, no matter what happens.

The questions are, how to live through the Wrath of Christ? (and) What does God want me to do during His judgment of the earth? The answer is found in Psalms: Enter into his gates with thanksgiving and into his courts with praise: Be thankful unto him and bless his name Psalm 100:4 KJV.

‘Gates’ is a type for the judgment of God in the Bible. To approach God, one must go through gates and the gates signify God’s judgment. We must come face to face with God’s judgment including the wrath of the Lamb. How to we approach His judgment? It is with thanksgiving—’to be grateful and thankful for His judgment’. Judgment is a double-edged sword. It can either work in your favor and against your enemies or it will destroy you.

There is always something to be thankful for and knowing that God has everything under control should strike a chord of thankfulness in your heart toward God—"God is who He says He is, and He will do what He states He will do.” This is true faith without unbelief.

After you walk through judgment (always claiming the Blood of Christ over your life and trusting in His great mercy), you will certainly want and need to praise God for who He is and what He is doing. This positive attitude and productive actions will allow you to live in the presence of God and be protected by God. It is only in His presence will we be safe and avoid the consequences of His judgment and His great wrath over mankind.

All of this sounds very theological or ‘spiritually technical,’ but it is accurate. Things are getting worse, but we have not seen ‘bad’ yet. God is in control of what is His—this world and all who live in it. My challenge to you is to consider and try what I am saying. Do this simple approach to the judgment of God and see how your life improves and how better you will feel. You will find a life full of hope, you will feel safe and secure, and the joy you find will give you strength to endure the wrath of the Lamb.

The rule to endure the wrath of the Lamb is “To be thankful, always for God’s actions and His words over all of mankind, and to be joyful, always rejoicing in who God is.” You can do this just as Job endured all the trouble that God brought his way—you can do this; you can endure through patience in being thankful and joyful!

(Reading Isaiah 42:1-4 will help you understand the judgment of Christ and what God will do for His Son.) Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delights; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles. He shall not cry to be heard, nor be lifted up (prideful), nor cause his voice to be heard in the streets (to become famous). A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth. He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he has set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait (the patience of the saints) for his law.

By keeping this seven-part series on “The Last Days, What Must I do?” and remembering these suggestions, prioritize them in your daily lifestyle, they help you love Jesus, making Him the #1 priority in your life; you will only see the wrath of the Lamb from a distance, and you will become ‘the overcomer’ the Book of Revelation mentions for all those who make it to the very end being untouched by His wrath.

Wisdom for the Week

If one is not seeking to serve and love Jesus Christ,

then your only other option is to follow and be in bondage to Satan.

Ps. There are no other options!

(Jesus said) No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God andmammon[money, possessions, fame, or status) which is offered by Satan.
