Are you praying & believing?

Prayer & Democracy

It is extremely difficult to be humble and/or react with humility in today’s culture. Satan wants you to fight with anger, become hateful, and depend on your efforts instead of looking to God for help. God says in the Bible, to humble oneself, pray fervently, seek His will in all you do, and not to dependent upon worldly institutions. A Biblical premise: Democracy does not depend on your vote but was built on prayers, and it is your prayers that keep democracy alive and God’s will within the democratic process. It is time to pray and pray with fervency and ask for God’s will and wisdom for America. Good things happen not by might nor by man’s power but by how hard His people pray and repent for all the wrong that is in America. America needs Jesus and only Jesus can fix America.

National Day of Repentance Sunday, March 24, 2024

The United States of America was created by God’s miracles, in His perfect timing, moving through greatly outnumbered, but passionate Holy Spirit-inspired individuals, seeking the Liberty of Christ (Luke 4:18 " He has sent Me… to bring liberty to the captives" ) instead of the tyranny of kings.

Knowing they needed His Hand, the Continental Congress held eight days of "humiliation, fasting and prayer" during the seven-year Revolutionary War. After His miracles brought about victory in the War, issues arose between States under the weak "Articles of Confederation." Delegates gathered again at Philadelphia in 1787 to attempt to resolve the divisions. At the beginning of the Convention George Washington, hero of the Revolutionary War, upon being voted head of the Convention, said: " Let us raise a standard to which the wise and honest can repair. The event is in the hand of God." When divisions arose, prayers to God each morning were performed; divisions began to be healed. At the conclusion of the Convention in 1787, whereby God’s Providence a way was found to connect the States into a stronger, liberty-based, union, one lady asked Benjamin Franklin what the delegates had created. Franklin said: " A republic, madam, if you can keep it." (From Capitol Hill Prayer Partners, March, 2024)

It is time to uphold our republic, America’s democracy, by praying and allowing God’s will to take place in our public institutions. Democracy only works through Christian people praying. It’s time for us to pray like our Founding Fathers prayed. Let’s find grace, mercy, and God’s love to reign over our country again! It is through unity and prayer that God’s purposes will be implemented in America’s democracy. May it be said of us, that we prayed and God heard our prayers

Got love with meekness for God?

March 9, 2024 WWJWMTD by Steve, the son of John (2SoJ)

Loving Too Much…Is Not Loving at All

It is extremely difficult to be humble and/or react with humility in today’s culture. Jesus made it quite clear that being meek (humble) was the only way to inherit what God has given to us. “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth” Matthew 10:5. We are taught in this world to be self-assured, aggressive, and forceful if you want to prosper and become successful in today’s culture, but being a Christian is just the opposite.

Jesus warned us about loving this world more than we love God—it will only increase failure, loneliness, and being manipulated by others. Jesus said If you love anyone more than you love God you are not worthy of what God has to offer (Matthew 10:37).

When a Christian combines these two principles into one’s life things begin to happen. You will begin to see answers to prayers, you will become happy even in the most difficult situation, and the Bible will ‘come alive’ in ways you never thought possible.

One cannot be all that God wants you to be without humility and loving God more than you love others. There will come times in your life when God tries you to see if you are meek enough not to depend on what you believe is the right thing to do and if you love God more than you love that other person. As it was with Abraham and his son Isaac so will it be with you. God tries us to see if we indeed believe in and love Him more than anything else. This is one of the many job descriptions of the Holy Spirit. He is sent to try and prepare us for the Coming of Jesus Christ.

The humbler one becomes the wealthier one will be, and the more you love God, the more you will be able to love others. Humility before wealth and loving God before loving others. This is what a Christian is to be.

Having a hard time understanding and believing in this concept. It’s time for you to take a long and good look at Jesus Christ. He humbled Himself when He accepted His death on the cross and loved God more than anything else so He could love you and me to the fullest. Just use Christ’s life as your example to follow, you will not go wrong!

Haunted by Waters/guest writer

March 6, 2024 WWJWMTD by Steve, the son of John (2SoJ)

Haunted by Waters: Guest writer & storyteller

One of my absolute all-time favorite movies, directed by Robert Redford, is “A River Runs Through It”.

It is a story about a Presbyterian minister in Montana with two sons. One son most definitely takes a more conventional approach to life while the other is a bit of a rascal. The two men take undeniably different paths in life but remain held together by the bond of family unity and respect.

Sadly, at the end of the story, the renegade son is shot in a gambling dispute and dies. At the end of the film, the father is preaching. His sermon comes from Scripture and focuses on the often limitations of love. He says, “Oftentimes those we love are the most unwilling or unable to accept our love. We reach out, but what we offer is not accepted. And so, we find that the help we offer is unwanted – but we can love them all the same. We can love completely, even without complete understanding.”

Caught in the middle of the spiritual vacuum of “say nothing, do nothing” regarding homosexuality and related issues, is the repentant homosexual who has not only abandoned the sexual sin of homosexual practice but a whole network of support and identity as well. Surrendering unconditionally to the Lordship of Christ, they enter the Church (many for the first time in their lives) with nothing. God, having brought them to a place of repentance, feel very frightened, vulnerable, and very, very alone.

I freely admit that I remain perplexed and deeply troubled by those in the Church who are terrified, if not paralyzed by the gay rights movement, and want to see any further legitimization of homosexuality stopped dead in its tracks but remain hesitant and unwilling to offer ministry to those who desire to come out of the behavior. This makes absolutely no sense.

Today, more than ever, we need churches that will not sidestep truth or grace but offer crystal clear truth on a host of issues, including homosexuality, toward every person. Frankly, this is exactly what the Church was called to be from the beginning, and it is exactly what people are looking for today. It is a Church just like this that saved my life.

Over these past 38 years of my new life in Christ, I have shared numerous times the heart-wrenching fact that all those I once ran with are now gone. To this day, their names, faces, their laughs, haunt me. I clearly and vividly remember a phone call with my closest and dearest friend just before he passed away with AIDS. He remained in San Francisco long after God had transported me back to Bakersfield in 1985 when and where everything in my life changed.

The last thing he said to me over a phone conversation was, “Phillip, we don’t understand what has happened to you, but whatever it is, keep it up. You have found something.”

Indeed, I continue to be haunted by waters.

Many know and understand the importance and significance of reaching the unreached peoples of the world for Christ Jesus. What about the unreached homosexual population?

We, the Christian community, have a lot to learn about bringing Jesus to the gays and lesbians who hopefully will one day knock at the doors of our churches. How about, “If you struggle with homosexuality and feel trapped – there is hope! Come on into Church and investigate the roots and causes of your struggle with homosexuality. We will walk with you as you look past the surface, deep into your heart, and consider God’s will for your life.”

It is the clarity of the Holy Scriptures that should compel each and every faithful follower of Christ Jesus to be a light where there is darkness, rather than hiding our witness from those who need it.

Today, no one, with integrity, can continue to condemn a behavior or a group of people while doing so very, very little to see things improve.

Once again, I find myself wondering…”Do you hear the waters?”

40 Days, God finding me.

March 2, 2024 WWJWMTD by Steve, the son of John (2SoJ)

A Story to Tell—40 Days of Prayer

I took 40 days off from writing. My heart was heavy, my spirit was bothered, and I did not want to write what the Spirit of God was showing me. Wisdom is difficult to deal with. Wisdom is designed to show one both the good and evil of an event or action and wisdom always delivers the ‘will of God’ what it is and how it affects humanity.

As I stated before, “Evil looks to overcome the will of God in every person’s life” but God’s will looks to save everyone through His love that we find in Christ alone.

During this process, the Holy Spirit was questioning the “whiteness” of my Robe of Righteousness. Were there things in my life I had yet to give over to God or was I still the master of my destiny?

The Holy Spirit was doing what He does best: finding sins that I did not know existed, pride that was hiding in my life, and the failure to help people that were within my reach to the gospel of Jesus Christ. I was taking the ‘easy-road’ of Christianity.

My life was not good enough, what ministry I had was not effective enough, and my life was not being run by the humility that Christ offered. I have been a mess and I have had to make some changes.

What God has shown me is hard to explain and/or contains insights and knowledge that I have been scared to share with the Body of Christ. Here are some changes I will be making in my blog.

I will be writing/sharing testimonies within the Body of Christ, stories that will scare you, and insights that will move you. If there is just one thing all of us should know, is that American Christians are not humble and do not realize the great power they have with the Holy Spirit living within them.

So, I will be taking you on a journey of repentance, humility, renewal, and fulfillment of your destiny in Christ through the working of the Holy Spirit within you. Get ready for the ‘ride of your life,’ Christ’s coming back is depending on you to be more than just a Christian.

When Evil Wins?

January 22, 2024 WWJWMTD by Steve, the son of John (2SoJ)

When Evil Wins!

Evil looks to overcome the will of God in every person’s life. Evil is a foe that never retreats unless it confronts Christ in us. Too often we are unprepared, unwilling, or surprised. I tell my wife often, “We prepare for the worst and hope for the best in every circumstance we face in life.” Our battle against Satan cannot be ignored nor can we take ‘peace’ for granted.

Everything in life has a spiritual component, no matter how small or insignificant. The rationale for this statement is that all things were created, and God does not create things that are dead. Even rocks have life, but our scientists have yet to discover this truth.

What you do does not matter; what God does always matters. We are so full of ourselves and take pride in everything we do, thereby causing us to fail and remain blind to what God is doing or wants to do. Everything and all things good come out of God’s activity in the lives and actions of His people. God’s will comes through prayer, not because of your righteousness. It I always about what God does not what we do.

So then neither is he that plants anything, neither he that waters; but God that gives the increase”,1 Corinthians 3:7 NKJV. What we do is not important or worthy of praise, but it is always God that receives the glory, and God alone that deserves the credit.

This is why prayer is important, and prayer only works when we are humble and looking to God for everything and give Him the praise for all He does.

This bit of wisdom is for all you ‘Trumpers’. Mr. Trump will not win because of your vote, nor because of legal maneuvers, nor because of the money that is spent on his nomination and election. Trump will win only because of your prayers and the will of God.

It is a spiritual battle and once we realize that every election is a battle between good and evil, and it is only your prayers and the battle you accept to fight will ‘God’s will be accomplished’.

It is time to get on your knees. Forget about what you want; it is what God wants that is important. Prayer is not answered through strength but through humility and crying. Only in weakness is the Body of Christ made strong. Want your prayers to be answered? Then pray like Christ prayed and stay humble through it all no matter how large the fight is or how dark things seem to be. We walk by faith, not by sight, and prayers are answered not because of our will but because of the will of our Father. It is time to accept God’s will and pray that His will should happen. Democracy does not work without God, and it is God who can do all things for His kids, this is what I am looking for!

Who will be raptured?

January 16, 2024 WWJWMTD by Steve, the son of John (2SoJ)

Who Do You Want To Be?

Every person wants to and often does model their life after someone else. There are lots of role models in the Bible, and Hebrew’s chapter eleven has a favorite set of individuals to choose from. Nevertheless, there are a few ‘giants of the Bible’ that seem to stand out, but few people will ever measure up to the character and choices these giants made to follow Christ.

King David found ‘great mercies’ and delivered Israel from their enemies, but God said that David was a ‘bloody man’ because he solved all problems with a sword so God would not allow him to build God’s temple.

King Solomon was a man who found great wisdom and riches, but he could not control his love for women and his desire for possessions. Both these men wrote a book in the Bible (Psalms & Proverbs) which are widely popular and quoted often.

The prophet Elisha was given a ‘double portion of anointing’ and did twice the miracles of any other prophet in Israel, but he did not get a free ride to heaven (not raptured with the help of a chariot and whirlwind) like his predecessor, Elijah.

I can go on listing Bible greats, but they do not measure up to the following three individuals that God chose over everyone else.

First, there is John the Baptist who Jesus said, ‘There would be no one greater than John that is born on this earth’. Why John? He did not prophecy, nor did miracles, he did not write any books of the Bible, and His ministry was short-lived. So how did he get the #1 status? John forsakes his future offered to him by man and rather chooses a future God chose for him. He was in line to be the next high priest in Israel (lineage from his father and mother) which he rejected; he lived in the desert and wore only camel hair/skin; and he ate only wild things, not man-made food but a simple diet of locust and honey. Wow, who does this? John rejects religious status, money, food, and clothing, and lives where no one else likes to live. He died a martyr.

Moses was much like John. Rejects worldly wealth, societal status, and a privileged lifestyle, and instead chooses to be an outcast, a man with a price of his head (criminal), and a simple poor sheepherder. (God did not allow his body to stay on the earth but was taken to heaven by an angel immediately after his death.) He dies before he enters the promised land.

How about the prophet Elijah who has a few chapters in the Bible written about him and did a few miracles but nothing as dramatic as so many other prophets or kings of Israel? Yet, he got a free ride to heaven, he did not die, and later it was him and Moses that God chose to meet miraculously with Christ before His death. These two men and Christ spent an afternoon talking with each other about Christ fulfilling His calling, death, and resurrection. God did not choose any others—they were not worthy enough. What made these two men and John the Baptist so important?

What they all had in common was their rejection of this world. They did not love this world or anything in the world. These three men loved God alone. They did not choose anything in the world to be important or needed for living but wanted to serve God before anything else. God was first to them and nothing in this world was in second place. Not fame, not riches/money, not status, not easy living, absolutely nothing!

John, the disciple of Christ, warned today’s church, “Do not love this world or anything in this world, or the love of the Father is not in you” (I John 2:15 NIV). John was also translated, the Bible suggests, that he did not die on this earth. What do these people have in common? The answer is found in 1 John 2:15!

In these last days, who will be raptured, not experiencing death? Will it be for only those (even if you are a Christian) who do not love this world, but love the Father only? Could the requirement be that you only love God, giving all your love to God and not trying to love both God and this world?

As Jesus commanded, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength” (Mark 12:30). Could this be the last day’s requirement for God to rapture His people—loving God with all you have leaving nothing for this world? Could believing in Christ be ‘not good enough’? Either way, it is time to be more like John, Moses, and Elijah—it’s time to follow the command of Jesus Christ.

Let’s love God alone with all that is within us, leaving the world behind.

Are you living in forgiveness?

January 15, 2024 WWJWMTD by Steve, the son of John (2SoJ)

A Critical Mistake Christians are Making in America

The Christians that make up the churches in America are failing God in this one area of their walk with Christ. Forget about not having enough power or needing more anointing or not rejoicing fervently or praying enough—it is none of these things. If the church would do this one thing, the path would be made for Christ to come and bring what He has promised.

The first beatitude in Christ’s first sermon to His disciples begins with “Blessed are the poor in spirit (constant brokenness), for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” Matthew 5:3. This sermon begins with this foundational truth. It was no mistake that John the Baptist came before Christ making a way for the Savior to begin His ministry—John came preaching repentance and the forgiveness of sin. Also, do not forget the Scriptures (Psalms KJV) that says, “God’s mercies are new each day (each morning).”

How often do you begin each day asking for forgiveness, asking the Holy Spirit to find the hidden sins you have forgotten about, and the sins/transgressions against you that you have yet to forgive completely and totally? Do you ask yourself, “Where are you God?” or wonder why God feels so far away? I can tell you not only because of the Scriptures and personal experience but also what the Holy Spirit is telling me that if “You would ask for forgiveness and forgive others willingly, freely, and without any resentment, you would be in love with Jesus once again and He would be waiting for you to wake up each morning bringing His love with Him. Love that would not only change you but change the room you are standing in.” This is what true, honest repentance requires and if you would allow your spirit within you to reach out to repentance, there would be nothing that would separate you from living and experiencing the feelings of the love of God.

Without repentance that leads to forgiveness, there is no love, no God’s presence, no personal revival, but loneliness, fear, and disappointment in your life. A life with Jesus is a life of repentance that continues each day. Jesus told His disciples to be in a state of brokenness, humbleness, and repentance all the time. One of the many jobs of the Holy Spirit is the ‘conviction of sin’ and bringing you into repentance. It’s time to allow Him to do His mission for the members of the Body of Christ.

The biblical pattern to holiness is mentioned, illustrated, and written about in so many places in the Bible. It starts with repentance, then having humility, on to forgiveness toward others, and then to a hunger and thirsting for righteousness that grows to want more of God than anything else in this world. This is what the church needs!

Let us all find forgiveness toward ourselves and all others who have sinned against us. Let’s find the love of God in everything we do, allowing the Kingdom of Heaven in our churches, homes, and lives through daily repentance, and rejoicing in forgiveness.

#10 Unafraid and faithful

January 14, 2024 WWJWMTD by Steve, the son of John (2SoJ)

#10 It’s Time to be faithful & unafraid!

Do you see giants or God’s promises?

Too often God takes us to the Promised Land and we falter and become afraid. It will be easy to become afraid in the last days. I am encouraged by the Gaza War that Israel is conducting with its neighbor. Israel is not afraid but willing to confront evil. If only the Christian Church would do the same and confront spiritual evil and Satan’s purposes.

Faith is for confrontation. Do not let your past hinder you from finding your future. Do not let evil intimidate or frighten you to become passive. This is what so many Christian denominations are asking of their followers. Our fight is against all who do not acknowledge Christ as Lord and refuse to be under the leadership of Christ—it is a spiritual battle and Satan is your enemy.

If you have no armor on, then you will lose the spiritual battle God called you to. A shield of faith protects you and allows you to confront Satan in battle. Satan will ‘shoot’ at you and injure you if possible. Satan’s arrows are scary and deadly; we must have faith!

Ephesians 6:10-18 NIV Put on the full armor of God,so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powersof this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.13 Therefore put on the full armor of God,so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.17 Take the helmet of salvationand the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Faith is designed for confrontation and defense; it is not offensive equipment. So, first, you need to put it on through forgiveness and repentance. Make yourself clean allowing Satan to have no advantages against you. Next, choose the proper fitting and sizing you will need to get the job done. Remember, do not take it off until the battle you are facing is done—won by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Let’s claim the promises of God and become faithful and unafraid. Satan is always a roaring lion, and he would like nothing better than to injure and kill you—not just spiritually but also physically. You will need this in 2024, it will be a year that you will not forget!

#9 Finding the “New” of the Bible

January 13, 2024 WWJWMTD by Steve, the son of John (2SoJ)

#9 It’s Time for ‘New’…Just, what are you looking for?

Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. Isaiah 43:18-19 KJV

Forget the former things, do not think, or consider your past.

Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes. Isaiah 54:2 NIV

Whatever you are doing, make it bigger and stronger.

As I have stated many times before, in these last days God is fulfilling every verse of the Bible and in complete fulness of each verse—a total impact of every single verse of the Bible. Every verse of the Bible is ‘up for grabs’ to all those who will believe God for them. They are yours but they will only come through forgiveness, repentance, and the acceptance of the righteousness of God.

No matter what book of the Bible one reads the pattern is always the same—from repentance through forgiveness and then on to righteousness. If you want to be a ‘believer’ you never lose sight of this process. Once you follow this process then whatever God asks of you or whatever the Holy Spirit shows you, and only then you can respond to their requests and become a person of faith.

God wants all of us to always be in a state of repentance and humility. Each day allowing the Holy Spirit to show us our faults and mistakes and us depending on the mercies of God which are new every day, every morning. From repentance to offering forgiveness to everyone who has wronged us or injured us in any way. Once this happens the Holy Spirit will immediately take us through the process and in the filling of God’s righteousness so we can do works that will stand against God’s judgment—these are works of righteousness that come through us impacting the world around us.

I say all of this, for you to find the “new things” that God wants to do with you, and whatever you do, it is supposed to be bigger and stronger for all to see—“the glory of God in us!”

Want “new and bigger” enter into the process of forgiveness and healing and then accept the righteousness of God so God can fill you with His promises and purposes for your life.

#8 Deliver from evil

January 10, 2024 WWJWMTD by Steve, the son of John (2SoJ)

#8 It’s Time to pray… ”deliver us from evil!”

Matthew 6:9-13 KJV Jesus said, “After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.”

I Peter I:5 states: Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. (NIV/Gateway)

The phrase, “deliver us from evil”, is not preached about in our churches but in these last days, this phrase will become the most needed part of the Lord’s prayer. Jesus warned the disciples to be vigilant against the devil and stated that he was a liar from the beginning—the father of lies.

We should pray daily for God to deliver and keep us from the evil in this world. The devil lies to us using little lies and lies that will bind us indefinitely. Satan lies through the media, elected officials, and Hollywood films. We need to be ‘on guard’ and spiritually aware of his clever devices and means of deception.

I would encourage every believer to pray daily about ‘deliverance from evil’. There are so many verses in Psalms that support and illustrate how to confront evil and depend on God for His keeping and deliverance power to overcome evil. Christians accept far too many deceptions, lies, and the powers of evil in our lives and over our families. We need deliverance and the peace of Jesus Christ to resist evil and not allow the power of Satan to control our lives. We must pray always and pray multiple times during our daily walk with Christ—"God deliver us from all evil.”

If there are two books of the Bible I would read each day, it would be Psalms and Isaiah. These two books will give you hope, direction, and power to be a daily overcomer against Satan and all his followers. There are more and more individuals today carrying the ‘Mark of the Beast’ in their lives and on their foreheads.

Do not just ask for deliverance but also Godly wisdom and peace so Satan cannot get an advantage in your life or anything that comes under your care or responsibility or covering If the Body of Christ is to make it in these last days, we must be overcomes of evil and find strength to resist the devil no matter how or when he comes to us, wanting us to fail.

Lord Jesus, deliver us from evil and keep us in the love of God always doing and looking for God’s will to be done.
