Six Qualities of Jesus in You/June’s character of the month series

Six Spiritual Qualities That Shape Character

The Character of the Month Series

I learned many years ago while teaching in an elementary school, that certain spiritual qualities develop specific academic skills. Spiritual qualities actively produced positive character attributes, which in turn developed needed learning skills.

Having problems with your character? Not good at learning? Are you making the same fatal mistakes and consistent negative behavior patterns day after day? It’s time to try these simple truths that are based on Scripture. (I will not bore you with a thesis on character development but will simply offer you the traits to ‘building a better you’.)

These traits come out of the Book of Isaiah and the Gospels of the New Testament. So pay attention to what you are reading and you will recognize them. God placed them in His Word so you could change who you are to who God wants you to be.

1. Be a person of commitments. Make simple and little commitments then progress to more significant and larger commitments. It is a person who makes a promise and keeps it, that our Father is looking to bless.

2. Be not a person who is weak. Your self-esteem is critical to God. We must believe that we are able, unafraid, and willing to take on tasks that prove who we are. “I am able” is what God is asking of us to say to ourselves at the beginning of each new challenge in our lives.

3. Be positive! Think positive and say positive words. Negative words produce failure by looking to the worse that can happen rather than the best that could happen. Circumstances should not dictate our outcomes or our decisions in life.

4. Be a person that follows up with positive acts of behavior once you have demonstrated #1-3 in a particular situation. Positive words demand positive behavior, so act in positive ways. Be a ‘life changer’ to those around you.

5. We must believe that everyday God has given us is God’s day. Each and everyday God’s will can and should be done in all that we do and in every circumstance. Today is the day of the Lord and He fulfills His will and speaks His truth into everything is happens. Today is the day for God’s best to be in our lives!

6. There are consequences to all behavior. We must understand and realize that God is the judge of all things. Poor decisions produce bad behavior. It is imperative that we abide within God’s commandments and love Him knowing He will one day judge all of us.

When you display these spiritual qualities in all you do, then you will have the character that will change humanity. What would Jesus want me to do? Well, it is simple—show forth these six qualities that flow from the character of Christ (Isaiah 61:1-2).

May’s Character of the Month Series

The First Step in Changing One’s Character

The character of the Month Series

The first step in character transformation is forgiveness. However, forgiveness is not always easy to find. There are numerous examples in Scripture where individuals never found forgiveness (or only limited forgiveness)—very sad stories, they are.

Often we believe if we only say a confession or acknowledge our sin then God is obligated to forgive us. This is not quite Scripturally sound nor does it bring results. It is stated in the Bible that the Holy Spirit that brings us to repentance and activates the forgiveness of God.

I am always sorry for any sin in my life but when the Holy Spirit is active in the forgiveness process this is when I feel clean and totally forgiven. Therefore, I am always interested and focused on being where the Holy Spirit is working. I know from Scriptures and personal experience that where the Spirit of God is manifest—His presence working—this is where I find the greatest forgiveness and my repentance is deep, sincere, and complete.

Here are some signs that forgiveness is working in your life:

1. When you go to church and you are changed then forgiveness was active in your service. Too many of my friends go and walk away for their church each Sunday morning never finding forgiveness. As they entered God’s house, they left just as they entered—no repentance, no change, no forgiveness, and no contact with the Holy Spirit. (They return home each Sunday just as they left for church.)

2. I have never known true forgiveness without a broken inner spirit with usually crying and a sincere desire never to offend God again. Forgiveness takes much more than a simple and vocal confession. It requires looking into a mirror and acknowledging who you truly are and then with an emotional, spiritual, and soulful experience asking God to forgive and change you to the person He wants you to be. True forgiveness changes us—it does not allow us to continue as we were.

3. Music and hearing God’s word brings us into a state of forgiveness quicker than anything else the Body of Christ can do. Every great revival was started and continued when these two aspects of worship was embedded into the services. I know a revival is taking place when I see people kneeling in corners of the church or building or stadium crying and asking God to wash away their sin. People will be crying for hours, even days, when God’s true repentance is working in their lives. (Repentance and forgiveness is an ongoing process—this is how God works.)

4. Forgiveness begins and ends with the Holy Spirit convicting and cleansing you. It is the Holy Spirit that works not only on our mouth confessing our sin but our heart becoming new, our spirit connecting with God’s Spirit, and our inner person finding peace and joy. You know you have forgiveness when joy floods your life with excitement and a profound desire never to do or go anywhere without Jesus being close to you. True forgiveness bring Jesus so close to you, you feel that He is sitting or standing next to you each minute of the day. Peace has taken control over your life, not guilt. (Forgiveness brings us closer to God & God closer to us.)

This is true character transformation—change that only God can bring. God within us; God changing us.

Article from Living Stone Ministries

Change Begins with Choices

Dear Friends,

Recently, members of God’s family gathered in unity and spoke out against California Assembly Bill 2943. It was amazing to see people who once identified as gay voice their opposition to the bill’s infringement and outright obstruction of an individual’s right to seek pastoral or other therapeutic help with same-sex attraction or gender-identity issues.

Jim Doman, founder and pastor of Church United, organized this gathering and has been a mighty warrior of God1251dc12-83d0-4ef0-bfdf-91d0b1f1dc12.jpg in his dedication to bringing people of faith together as one voice serving one God. At this event, Jim provided a platform for people to testify to their God-inspired transformations. Numerous men and women shared—though they experienced some opposition—and each told their story of truth, love, and God’s redemptive power.

Perhaps you, like Jim, would ask God what you can do. I did. And here’s what I said on May 29th at the Ronald Reagan Federal Building in Santa Ana, CA.
“My father attempted to make all his pain and confusion go away during mid-life, when he pursued life as a transgender woman known as Becky.

Throughout his childhood years and into his adult life, he endured emotional and sexual abuse. He suffered from low self-esteem and from being bullied by peers during his childhood and teen years. His mother was an alcoholic, and he never connected with or felt loved by his father. These events and more created emotional and identity problems for him.
As an adult, he chose not to see a counselor to help address the experiences and dysfunction he faced as a child and the resulting long-term confusion.

It was his choice not to seek professional or pastoral help to understand the severity and consequences of the traumatic events in his life. Later, he stated, ‘This [living as a trans woman] didn’t bring me the fulfillment I thought it would.’

My father made his choices—and lived and died with them. But today, we stand here with freedom of choice being threatened.
I know many, many who freely decided that they no longer wanted to be gay. Some sought pastoral or therapeutic support. But Assembly Bill 2943 would take away that right and effectively mandate one must stay gay or transgender.

AB 2943 constrains self-determination and promotes the idea that change is not possible. Yet, here I stand with people who have experienced such change—people I’ve known for more than a decade.

AB 2943 presents a false narrative—a narrative that says lives don’t change. I’m here to tell you people are capable of change. But change begins with choices. Please don’t eliminate the right to choose. People are capable of change. But change begins with choices. Please don’t eliminate the right for someone to choose.”

d881bf1c-765c-4e34-9fff-76252ca23837.jpgThough it is difficult to take a stand in a today’s culture, God calls us to be brave. Ultimately, our struggle is not against a person or political party, but rather against the evil spiritual forces and principalities of this world.

History has taught us that freedoms are costly. Therefore, we must remember and proclaim—even in the face of opposition—that, just as God gives us free will, so should each person have the freedom to choose to seek pastoral or therapeutic assistance with same-sex attraction and/or gender-identity issues.

Pray for California. Pray for understanding and a just outcome at the judicial committee hearing on the bill on June 12. Pray for a revival of hearts seeking Jesus Christ—and for the lost to come home!
Blessings,

What Are You Thinking?

Hi Phillip,

Keep up the good fight of faith! Swords have 2 edges in order to exercise justice: one toward the church that has indeed failed the gay individual and govt. that has tried to find a political solution to a spiritual problem. The only solution, which I have spoken/written about many times, is that God must enter the gay movement with the power of transformation and heaven’s total display of the fruits of the Holy Spirit.

The church walks in fear, ignorance, and without faith with regards to individuals with same-sex attraction and our politicians are solely interested in money and power to promote their political aspirations.

My observation to this dilemma is that God will one day exercise judgment on both groups and then finally bring restoration to gay individuals who call out for healing and love.

Hello Everyone,

This week, I have been posting quite a bit on Facebook. To some degree, I have done so to let
everyone know we (His Way Out Ministries) continue to be greatly involved in ministry to individuals
with unwanted same-sex attraction as well as families and churches impacted by the same.

One of my posts on FB shared "California Assembly Bill 2943 is now scheduled to be heard by the
California Senate on Tuesday, June 12, 2018."

Assembly Bill 2943 pertains to youth and adults making the sale of all goods and services involving any
and all "sexual orientation efforts" an "unlawful business practice."

According to this bill, a man or a woman can talk to a psychotherapist, counselor or pastor about their
same-sex attraction as long as the goal is "acceptance, support, and understanding."

Many believe the bill will be approved by the Senate and then onward to Governor Brown for signing into law.

Clearly, should AB 2943 become law, we will be thrust into a very different world.

I would like to know what you all are feeling and thinking?

Personally, I frequently find myself on an emotional roller coaster especially when I receive emails or FB messages
from once gay-identified men and women asking, "Phillip, why have and why are churches abandoning us?"

My head understands. However, I wish someone would explain it to my heart.

Folks, we need to be talking, sharing, brainstorming, preparing for "Where do we go from here?"

Please, talk to me by using Reply To All. As you can see, I am sending this email to a considerable list of persons.

Prayerfully,

Phillip

What is Jesus singing in heaven?

Where Has the Music Gone?

Music is one of my favorite things. Music has always moved me. I am easily touched by great melodies and lyrics. My life has a rich history of music. I love music and what it has done in my life.

I learned early in life the importance of music. There was always a piano in the home and someone was always playing it. I learned to play five different instruments by a senior in high school. The double bass was my favorite and I still have the bass my parents bought for me while in high school.

I played in national honor orchestras, with members of the Fresno Philharmonic Orchestra, and various groups from 9th grade through my college career. I conducted and wrote music, ‘cut-records’, and traveled throughout the world playing music. It was a wonderful musical experience.

I have collected songs over the years that sparked revivals in America, theme songs that ‘brought down’ the Presence of God. Songs you no longer can find in either digital or other electronic & tape forms of recording.

However, today we rarely can find songs/music that brings heaven to earth. Too often I have had to turn the radio off because all the Christian stations are playing songs written for man’s purposes or for the most recent trends in music.

Today’s Christian music is far from the heart of the Father. It is not inspired by the Holy Spirit nor can be. The reasons behind the music are corrupt and not God-honoring. Once in a while, one finds a song that was birthed by Jesus and with the words honoring Jesus. Where has God’s music gone? Why are songwriters and musicians compromising the very structure God has placed within His power for inspirited music?

Songwriters and musicians—it is time to repent of the error of your ways. It is time for searching the heart of God for God’s tunes and God’s lyrics. God will judge you more harshly than others for leading people into false worship and praise.

The Wisdom of God has spoken…Find the music that Jesus is singing in heaven!

From Compromising to Conflict

May 14, 2018 WWJWMTD by Steve the son of John

Do You Know The Importance?

Today is a historical day. Biblical Scriptures are being fulfilled in our lifetime. We need to rejoice in the Lord and shout His Name from the rooftops.

Jerusalem is being recognized as the capital of Israel with the USA establishing its embassy in that city. Israel became a nation in 1948 and is once again becoming the center of civilization with all nations acknowledging its existence, as stated in the Bible.

Israel’s history has never been without continual conflict with its neighbors. It was born in conflict and lives in conflict. It has peace and a place to raise its families but only within the context of conflict.

Oh, Christian church how far you have moved from the truth. You look for peace within a political process. You look for a political solution for a spiritual battle. You will sacrifice the truth of the cross for temporary worldly peace.

Oh, Christian church, you compromise your belief system in order to find favor with people. You will give away your inheritance in Christ for any and all your relationships with your family, your community, and with your worldly friends.

It is time, not for peace without truth, but for peace with the courage to “bring everything under the dominion of Christ.” Our fight is a spiritual fight. Our inheritance is a spiritual inheritance. Our borders are spiritual borders.

You cannot be a Christian if you want to be friends with the world. It is time to read ‘The Acts of the Apostles’ and begin to claim everything God had once given to the church. It is time to fight, time to pray, time to believe, and time to never give up!

As God fulfills His promises to Israel so He wants to fulfill His promises to His church. Fight the spiritual battle—overcome darkness at every level, in every community, and in every home that acknowledges Christ as Lord. Lets, do what Jesus wants us to do.

Going around in circles

May 13, 2018 WWJWMTD by Steve the son of John

Going Around In Circles

I have been busy doing nothing. Well, not really nothing, just not during what I usually do or letting people know what I am doing. So I guess, as the world judge’s effort, I am doing nothing. It is wonderful to wait on God and do nothing. It is this kind of waiting that produces action or fruit, as the Bible would say.

Many of us are waiting on God for answers to prayers, or waiting on God for the next great revival (even though it is not a revival), or waiting on God to fulfill His promises to us. But, in all truthfulness, God is waiting on us—you and me! God knows how to wait in perfect liberty while you and I are on waiting on signs to guide us. I suggest that we begin to act—it is time to bring to fulfillment the promises and purposes of God.

But you say, "Has not the church been doing that for over 2000 years?" Yes, in many respects we have but just like the early church brought to pass the words of Christ we ought to do the same. What has been lacking is not passion or insight or revelation but rather wisdom. We have been (that is the church) using our plows to produce a harvest of souls for Christ, but we forgot to remake our plows into swords—that which Jesus commanded.

One cannot have fulfillment without judgment. The early church produced both a great harvest of souls and the judgment of Christ (bringing everything to the subject of Jesus Christ). It is only in the wisdom of God—fruitfulness and judgment working together—that will usurer in the Second Coming of Christ.

So no longer will you have to go around in circles, waiting in the Sinai Desert waiting to enter the promised land. Jesus is coming back and the fulfillment of so many Scriptures will be taking place before your very eyes. But it is in God’s wisdom that you will find your way. So get ready for articles that will produce wisdom in your lives. If you can hear what the Spirit of God says, you will find a straight path for your feet—the way is narrow and only in wisdom will you find it.

Ps. Happy Mother’s Day to all those mothers who loved without measure and gave their lives willingly so their children would be children that are blessed in the Lord.

What Say You?

May 5, 2018 WWJWMTD by Steve the son of John

I’ve Got A Question For You

Is God into judgment? Yes, judgment, punishment, and the consequences of your crimes against heaven and God’s creation. What say you?

If you say, “No” then how do you call yourself a believer? If your answer is “Maybe” then what Scriptures are you ignoring? If you say, “Yes”, then who is to execute His judgment?

What say you? Come on, you can do this—answer the question! Is God a God of judgment? Stand up and answer what God is asking—be a mature, honest, thoughtful, and reflective person—is God looking to judgment to finalize everything that Jesus has done and is about to do?

This answer to this question, as well as, many other questions you have been afraid to ask will be addressed over the next few weeks. It is time for His wisdom to clean up your mind and affirm the purposes of God in your life. More to come…

California Bill

May 4, 2018 WWJWMTD by Steve the son of John

What is CA Doing Now?

If you are not praying and willing to stand on the wall (to be a watchman) you are completely out of God’s will. This is what Phillip sent me; read and pray.

"Yesterday, I posted the most recent update regarding California Assembly Bill 2943 to FB. The bill has gone to the Senate but a hearing date has not been set as yet.

For your awareness, please read the following details of AB 2943. The details are by far the most sweeping and encompassing I have seen to date.

Under AB 2943:

• A religious ministry could not hold a conference on maintaining sexual purity if the conference encourages attendees to avoid homosexual behavior.

• A bookstore (including online bookstores like Amazon) could not sell any recently published books challenging gender identity ideology and advocating that these beliefs should be rejected by society.

• A pastor paid to speak at an event addressing current social topics could not encourage attendees that they can prevail over same-sex desires or feelings that they were born the wrong sex.

In these scenarios, if there is a transaction (the counselor’s payment; the conference attendance fees; the cost of the book; and the pastor’s speaking fee) that triggers AB 2943.

And under the bill, a person or organization who is paid by a consumer for goods or services cannot engage in any practice — including pure speech — that tells someone that they can overcome unwanted same-sex attraction or gender identity confusion."

Prayerfully,
Pastor Phillip Lee
His Way Out Ministries

You have been warned! "If my people will only humble themselves and pray…I will hear from heaven", if not, then your judgment will come quicker than blessings.
