The lion’s roar

July 1, 2017 WWJWMTD by Steve the son of John

The Roar of a Lion

Have you ever heard lions roar at a zoo? Their roar seem to travel to all corners of the park. Their roar can be intimidating; they make their presence known. The Bible says Satan goes about as a roaring lion. Satan wants to overpower his enemies and tries to instill fear in all who hear him.

We can get use to Satan’s roar. In fact, we often do not listen or realize when he is roaring. The Bible has lots to say about Satan, that devil who only seeks to steal, kill and destroy. He can only lie and hates you and me. He accuses the Children of God and ridicules us before our Father in heaven.

He lost at Calvary and Christ won, but that has not stopped him from doing his evil in all the earth. Revelation says some Christians live “where Satan’s seat is.” I often feel as if that is where I live—in California, where Satan has his headquarters.

Over the past three plus weeks Satan has been roaring at me. He has hindered everything I am doing. Some things that I own have either broke or are now in need of repair. It has been a non-stop effort on the part of Satan to hind Gods will in my life by using things around me.

I asked God what was going on, He said, “Satan is roaring at you.” I would like it to stop, but I remember the opposition that Christ endured in order to do God’s will and how Satan tempted him for 40 days while in the wilderness. The Holy Spirit “drove Him into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.”

Wow, God wants us to be tempted. We are challenged at every level of our Christian walk and still Christ walks with us. Wisdom is our guide. Proverbs states in verse after verse how evil and good operates in this world. God wants us to recognize evil especially when it is in front of us. We are not to be ignorant of Satan’s ways, Paul says in the Epistles.

We are to “take up a serpent” (Mark 16) and are to succeed with the will of God even in the mist of great evil and darkness. Evil is not to win even though we are confronted by evil each and everyday. Yes, Satan dwells around me and darkness is everywhere, but it is Jesus that I see and His love that sustains me. Because of Christ I can pick up the evil spiritual serpents (not real snakes) and cast them into the fire of God’s judgment. That is God promise for me, and my part & calling in the Kingdom of God.

Opposites do indeed attract

June 25, 2017 WWJWMTD by Steve the son of John

Point of Contact

The Bible talks about points of contact when God enters into the lives of His people. There are specific times, places and experiences that God initiates regarding His purposes and action plans. The Bible dictates what God’s role and our role is in every encounter or point of contact between us.

These points of contact are not to be taken lightly nor ignored. Often I do not realize God’s intervention into my life. He is contacting me and I do not realize His movement or any significance to His contact.

Nevertheless, God is always contacting me. God does not want me ignorant, ill informed, nor ‘blind-sided’ by what He is planning. His love for me is much too great to allow any harm to come upon my surrounds or me.

In Ecclesiastes God makes it quite clear to His timing. Wisdom demands that we understand the movement and activities of God. Take for instance verse four in chapter 3b: “a time to mourn and a time to dance.”

Theologies have often explained this chapter in terms of differences and different behaviors that happen to everyone on the earth. But, this is not really what God is saying in this chapter. What God is stating is that when one behavior is present the other one is present also. These statements are not opposites of behavior but rather are common in results.

“A time to mourn and a time to dance” means that dancing and mourning are meant to be united and joined in common purpose. We are meant to mourn and dance; never to have one without the other.

I continue to emphasize America’s next revival. It is ‘bound-up’ in rejoicing. In fact, without rejoicing (singing, praise, worship, dancing) you will not see it, let alone be part of the next revival. But the interesting aspect of “dancing” (rejoicing like David rejoiced before the Lord) is that we must mourn. Yes, we must mourn like David also.

I mourn, not for myself but for all others that are in trouble. I mourn because of their sin. I mourn because of their oppression. I mourn because of the great ignorance and darkness that surrounds their lives. As the Bible says, “People who sat in darkness saw great light” Luke 1: 67-79.

When we mourn, dancing will come and when we dance, people of mourning we will become. You want revival be prepared to mourn and be prepared to dance. As I have told you before, this next revival will not be like anything any of us have experienced before.

Too Serious

June 17, 2017 WWJWMTD by Steve the son of John

Taking God Way Too Serious

Only a fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” I wish there were no fools in this world. Also, the Bible says, “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the Living God.” Both of these and so many other Bible passages state the seriousness of the greatness and magnitude of God.

However, I do not like to be around Christians that do not know how to laugh (God does laugh and tells us to do so—Psalms) and those who cannot find humor in the smallest of things. Many people see life as if it is a burden and not something to be enjoyed. I would avoid such individuals, do not follow their example.

Yes, we take God way too seriously most of the time. Jesus said, “I now call you friends.” Jesus does not want to be a lord of heaviness ruling over our lives. He wants us to be friends, and Jesus asked that God be kind to us (to be one with us) and become friends.

We need to retune our relationship with the Trinity if we are not on a “friendship based relationship.” I talk with God like I am speaking to a friend. I try to respond to God when He speaks to me as if He is a best friend.

I serve God not out of fear but out of friendship. He is kind to me and I like to respond back in like-mindedness. Yes, I do respect Him a great deal. I am nothing in His presence and I humble myself when He moves me to tears. But, it is His friendship that brings me closer to Him and touches my heart to be more like Him.

God is my friend! He was my friend before I accepted His friendship and His friendship will be always be the standard of my love for Him and the Body of Christ. I am looking forward to seeing my friend each moment of the day. I hope He will find my love for Him good enough and sincere enough for us to have an eternal friendship.

You ask me

June 16, 2017 WWJWMTD by Steve the son of John

You Asked Me, I’ll Tell You

The Bible offers great insight into what it takes to have a sincere and impactful ‘Jesus type revival’. All movements of the Holy Spirit, as well as, individual nations ‘spiritual awakenings’ had one common attribute.

Do not let Biblical scholars or your Bible classes ‘white-wash’ what and how God brought revivals to mankind over the last 2000 years. God has not changed and the Bible gives specific requirements for revival type movements.

We know in the Book of Nehemiah that revival began when the people heard the word of the Lord read and they broke into great repentance. Billy Graham’s ministry was exactly the same. Billy quoted the Bible, make a convincing argument for it’s existence and people came by the thousands to repent and accept the Gospel of Christ.

The Great Awakening in America began with a call to repentance. Preachers would gather in public squares or fields and Colonial Americans would listen and begin crying in great numbers, repenting of their sin and many would be baptized in water. What does that remind you of, yes, the ministry of John the Baptist.

Book of Revelation has much to say about God moving among His church and throughout the earth in the last days. Once again, Revelation speaks of ‘repentance’, a turning from sin and believing in Jesus Christ. The Jesus Movement of the 70’s was a prime example of what Revelation is talking about.

You want revival? You want a life that has meaning and full of hope? You want to change your community for Christ? Learn to repent! “Blessed are the poor in spirit for they have the Kingdom of Heaven on earth” Matthew 5:3. When we are poor (not monetarily) that is to say, when we are “contrite” in a constant state of repentance and being broken over the sin in our lives, God brings what is in heaven to us on earth.

Do you want a taste of heaven before you get there? Then repent: repent often, repent with tears, stay broken and humble, tell God you are sorry quickly and sincerely, be and stay in a state of repentance. If and when you do this, all that is in heaven will be yours. It is God’s promise and we have seen this happen over and over again through out history for those who desired revival more than life itself.

You asked me, this is my answer—want revival, want Jesus then repent always!

Say its not so

June 15, 2017 WWJWMTD by Steve the son of John

Parallel Highways

You might not like what I am about to say. That is all right, I do not pretend nor do I desire to win a popularity contest. But, whether we choose to accept truth or reject truth, it does not change the truth, it is only us who are affected.

Often we get lost in finding God’s will or knowing what to do next. That does not have to be the case with God’s kids. God gives us natural, political and physical signs to point the way to God’s will.

The Children of Israel were in bondage in Egypt and then had 40 years in the desert wandering about before they decided to do things God’s way and enter the promise land. Israel was in bondage in Persia before Easter came on the scene to change the heart of the King and give prosperity to the Jews. The Kingdom of Israel was in constant war before the wisdom of Solomon brought peace to the Jewish nation.

In every one of these cases God was forcing His people into the ‘valley of decision’ before He would grant them His promises. America has been in a ‘spiritual valley’ for the past 40 years. We have not experienced the best God has to offer. As a whole, we have comprised our faith, accepting defeatism, rejecting truth for philosophical reasoning even though there has been some ‘lights of hope’ during the past years. This now has changed.

In the past election God placed a most unlikely candidate for President in the Oval Office. Not the first choice for most Christians and whom the church often despises. Well, God did choose Mr. Trump as President, and how he won the election was nothing short of a miracle. God is once again placing natural, political and physical signs to point the way to God’s will.

You and I will see things that happen in the ‘nature order of life’ which will parallel God’s will for the Church. If we decide to move into God’s will, if we will climb out of our valley up into the mountain God has for us, if we will accept God’s will His way, then and only then we will see a spiritual awakening that America has never experienced.

God wants His people to prosper physically (be in good health), prosper morally (reject behavioral reasoning and live according to Biblical truths), prosper financially (to get and stay out of debt and have monetary influence in our communities), and of course prosper spiritually (to grow in power and love changing our culture and bringing the Government of God to bear upon all things).

God says, “Are you going to stay in your valley of decision or are you going to take your mountain? You, no, we are in a cross roads—the signs are in front of us, who will you serve for the next 10 years? Choose this day…the Lord says!”

4 very short prayers that will change your life

June 14, 2017 WWJWMTD by Steve the son of John

Times of Prayer

Knowing what and how to pray is critical. Jesus taught His disciples the importance of prayer (Mathew 6:9-15). Promise Keepers has this to say about prayer, “Prayer is a spiritual discipline that needs cultivation. Prayer takes effort and constant fine-tuning. We learn to pray. At one point, Paul commended Epaphras on his fervent prayer life, calling him a struggler in prayer: ‘Epaphras greets you, always struggling on your behalf in his prayers’ (Colossians 4:12). Prayer is indeed a struggle.”

Nevertheless, I pray and we ought to pray so much more, knowing that Christ is coming back soon—may be in our lifetime. Here are four very short prayers that every family should pray each day. (Pray like you are talking to a friend.)

One, the apostle Paul started each epistle with these words “Grace and Peace be multiplied to you from God and Jesus Christ.” We need to pray that the grace and peace of God be with us each day and be increased without limits.

Two, pray Luke 2:40 over our children and grandchildren: “And the child grew (pray for physical & mentally health), became strong in Spirit (pray that the child’s purpose and their self-esteem which God has determined before this birth come to fulfillment), be filled with wisdom (pray that they know the difference between right and wrong; good and bad—to have moral prosperity), and to have the grace of God upon them (pray that they will have the means to serve God and respond to God when He calls upon them).”

Three, Husbands and wives need to pray this for each other and themselves: “Pray that the Husband love his wife as he loves himself” and the wife “Love and honor their husband as Sarah did to Abraham.” We need to respect and help each other be the best we can be, as well as, show gentleness along with honor and thankfulness for who they are. (Various verses from the Epistles)

Four, pray Psalm 23: 3a: “The Lord restores my soul.” Pray with understanding that we will only prosper in the Lord if our soul prospers. We will fail in our service to God if our spirit and soul are not given spiritual food everyday from our Father. It is God alone who can do this and we must ask for this to take place.

A time to speak

June 13, 2017 WWJWMTD by Steve the son of John

A Time to Speak…

My good friend Phillip Lee recently wrote an article titled, Affirm Truth—Not Culture. I have borrowed a few statements from the article but you can read the entire article at His Way Out Ministries| June 12, 2017 at 12:00 pm | Categories: Answering The Culture | URL: http://wp.me/p2bQUC-17g

Phillip states: As true faithful followers of Christ Jesus, we take the Bible in its entirety or not at all. We do not have the luxury of randomly selecting portions of Scripture and discarding the rest.

The Church must call homosexual practice sin, and that will remain offensive to many. We cannot water down God’s Word. There is no doubt our courage will be tested, there will even be times when some must stand alone and defend what is right.

As Paul said to Timothy: "At my first defense, no one came to my support, but everyone deserted me." (2 Timothy 4:16)

There can be no true compassion, integrity, and outreach if the Name, the teachings, the promises, the life, the death, the resurrection, and the transformation power of the Holy Spirit are not proclaimed – and, proclaimed to the virtually untouched mission field around the world called ‘the gay community’.

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go." (Joshua 1:9)

Christians are not in the business of "winning the argument." People are not argued into the Kingdom of God. What is eloquent and pierces a heart and soul is the personal testimony of someone whose life has been transformed by Christ.

Few things are more effective than people who learn how to be "a friend (who) loves at all times," (Proverbs 17:17) while not being afraid to uphold God’s truth that "better is open rebuke than hidden love." (Proverbs 27:5)

I would submit that the calamity and dilemma many professing Christians face today with regard to homosexuality is not unlike a time when Elijah spoke and said: "’How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal is God, follow him.’ But the people said nothing." (1 Kings 18:21)

Many know and understand the importance and significance of reaching the unreached peoples of the world for Christ Jesus. What about the unreached homosexual population?

It is the clarity of the Holy Scriptures that should compel each and every faithful follower of Christ Jesus to be a light where there is darkness, rather than hiding our witness from those who need it.

The ultimate issue for the homosexual is the same as it is for every individual. "Where do they stand? Are they dead in sin or alive in Christ?" Therefore, we must not withdraw, we must not be silent.

"If I profess with the loudest voice and clearest exposition every portion of the truth of God except precisely that little point which the world and the devil are at that moment attacking, I am not confessing Christ, however boldly I may be professing Christ. Where the battle rages, there the loyalty of the soldier is proved." Martin Luther. By Pastor Phillip Lee

“The next great revival in America will not come without the church reaching out to the gay community with love, forgiveness, truth and the power of Christ,” the prophetic voice of Dr. Steven J. Wentland.

That Snake

June 12, 2017 WWJWMTD by Steve the son of John

Let’s Talk ‘Snakes’

If you are like me, we love God’s creation! Nature is one of the great wonders of the earth. It is so complex and truly amazing to watch. However, there is one species I do not like. I have mountain lions, black bears, timber wolves, and coyotes on my property. I do not get excited or nervous when I run across any of them but snakes, they are another matter.

I’ve got lots of different kind of snakes on my property: Rattle, King, Gopher, and Garden Snakes. In fact I often step over King Snakes when ‘weed-whacking’ in the late spring. But those Pacific Coast Rattle Snakes are the ones that get my attention. They are dangerous and often silent.

There are snakes that kill you within a few minutes. Many of them do not give any warning before they strike. They come in many sizes and colors but most often blend into their surrounds—you do not see them even when you are inches away.

God cursed Satan after his seduction of Eve in the Garden of Eden (i.e. the Paradise of God). Indeed, Satan is just like any poisonous snake. Satan can be colorful, silent but there is nothing about his appearance that is good. He is crafty, strong, slippery, and deadly. Satan’s job is to steal, kill, and destroy.

To steal: to take away any blessing you receive from God and any spoken word from God before it takes root and bears fruit in your life.

To kill: to get you to accept lies and be blinded from see or believing in the Truth. If we are blind, it is because Satan has blinded us and we accept his lies rather than believe in God’s words, truths, or manifestations.

To destroy: Satan wants to destroy any hope of your legacy. Whatever God has placed into your life, Satan’s job is to completely ruin any chance of “God in you” to be deposited into your spouse, family, friends or strangers.

It is not by accident that God labeled Satan a snake. His bite becomes powerless in Christ—you can “shake Satan off your life when he tries to wrap himself around you to steal, kill and destroy.” This is a promise from God and found only in Christ.

It’s close!

June 1, 2017 WWJWMTD by Steve the son of John

I’m Reminded

The Spirit of God reminded me that the next move of the Holy Spirit is at America’s door. It is so close yet it will surprise us all! The winds of God will move in such a way no one can recognize how they move or where they are going—it’s a God thing.

I am excited and preparing for God’s winds to impact America. However, here is a warning to everyone. How much do you love God? Is your love for God greater than your love for anything else? Sure, all of us can be impacted by God’s plans and the power of Jesus Christ, but do you want to be part of God’s plans in initiating the next movement of God? I do and I hope you want this too.

If both your feet are in Christ, if all your heart, strength, soul and mind are in Christ then be watching and praying for God to use you. Do you love God more than you love everything else? I love all of God’s creation and He wants me too, but God wants me to love Him more. Let the Wind of God bring the Fire of God in order to impact America with the Government of God.

I want to be ‘all in’, not just willing to be part of something God is doing but rather to partner with God and bring the purposes of God to bear on all of His creation. Take a stand all who are looking forward to new promises of God and not look back to Egypt where you think is your security and prosperity.

We are been waiting; the waiting period is over—it is now time for watching and reacting to what God is about to bring our way. The Winds of God—God’s revival is in the Wind. Yes, I will sing of God’s greatness, I will speak Scriptures of the goodness of God, and yes, I will partner with God and answer His call of His Government over all things. Come Lord Jesus, come!

It’s happening

May 31, 2017 WWJWMTD by Steve the son of John

It’s Happening!

I told you a revival would be coming to America and signs of the movement of the Holy Spirit are popping up in the most unlikely places. I wrote to you explaining that the next ‘Awakening of God in America’ would be like a wave moving from the East to the West. Yes, you will find it in the wind and ‘this movement will be the same yet different’ than what America has experienced or the Church asked for over the past 40 years.

My good friend Phillip Lee, founder of His Way Out Ministries sent me a recent article/blog. I have attached a link to his website/blog. After years of being faithful, Phillip is experiencing a growth and hunger for the ministry the Lord has given him. (http://hiswayout.com/hwom-news-brief-june-2017/ and http://hiswayout.com)

Phillip often quotes this Scripture: "Be encouraged that Christ is building His Church, and He is doing it out of people including those who were sexually immoral, idolaters, male prostitutes, homosexual offenders, thieves, greedy, drunkards, slanderers, and swindlers but who have been washed, sanctified, and justified in the name of Christ." (1 Corinthians 6:9-11)

Remember the steps—we must be washed in the Blood of the Lamb first, then we move to Sanctification (completeness and wholeness in Christ), then lastly, we are justified by the working of the Holy Spirit in our lives producing good works.

The next revival will include these 3 attributes, but know and be confident that the revival will come to us through music and singing about the great works of God and what Jesus Christ has done for us. As well as, a deep and lasting dependence on the Bible—speaking the Word of God will also bring the revival.
