The Judgment of Revival
You cannot speak to me of any revival that did not include God’s judgment. It’s impossible because when God begins to move among us the works of the devil are destroyed and people who are envious or desirous of power—jealous of God—fall into their own traps. (Psalms is very clear about this and church history accounts for this premise.)
This article is a warning to those who hold positions of authority in Christianity. Individuals over religious denominations, Christian organizations, large out-reach ministries, or even Christian publications owners/editors. The Book of Acts talks about the struggles within the early church regarding doctrine and who receive the Gospel of Christ. Leaders were reluctant to allow certain ethnic groups to have aspects of the Gospel preached to them or others to have authority in the church. (Jealousy and ignorance are terrible attributes.)
Here is a story I know personally—I was there as a young teenager during this time. The Charismatic Movement began in three separate churches in three very different locations in America in 1959. One of those places was an Episcopal church in Turlock California. It was a small but very connected community church in a small rural city in the San Joaquin Valley.
The pastor (reverend) became a charismatic as well as many within his congregation. However, the ‘church directors’ did not agree with what the pastor since he now was supporting this movement and its effect on the church as a whole. The five board members did not believe this was from God nor were they going to condone any Charismatic doctrine to infiltrate their church. The five board members fired their pastor. He left Turlock to take a position as pastor of a church in the ‘Bay Area’ of California.
What happened next is a prime example of God’s judgment and the fulfillment of Scripture, “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of a living God.” All five board members died within the next six months. God does not take lightly criticism or injury to anyone doing His will, especially when it comes to the moving of the Holy Spirit. You go after God’s anointed (those with a fresh/new anointing and moving of the Holy Spirit) and God goes after you.
This next revival will carry with it God’s judgment, the likes we have never seen before. This revival will be more like a ‘two edged sword’ in performing God’s will (goodness and kindness) and God’s judgment (consequences for evil behavior).
Get ready for the ‘ride of your life’. Having the Holy Spirit in your life is like riding a bull for 8 seconds. It seems like an eternity but the thrill of those 8 seconds will forever change your life. Choose life not judgment; be a person of faith.
