Character Requires Power
Character of the Month Series
Whenever one purchases a new car or truck, the buyer wants to know the ‘horsepower’ of the engine, and when purchasing a computer or smartphone you want to know how fast it can handle data—we are into power! God has purposes and those purposes are met through the demonstration of His power. Yes, God is into power—we believe God is all-powerful.
Notwithstanding, God transferred His power to us long ago. Christ came, died and rose in order for us to experience this very truth. Jesus told His disciples to “Wait in Jerusalem till the Holy Spirit and Power comes upon you—this is God’s will for your life.”
So many Christians do not wait nor desire to have God’s power working in their lives. I feel so sorry for those in the Body of Christ who try to serve God and do His will without God’s power—the Holy Spirit, the third part of God—actively living in their lives.
Yes, you can be saved. Yes, you can have answered prayers. Yes, you can meagerly serve God but that does not mean the Holy Spirit is actively working and manifesting His power in your life. Christ’s disciples believed they had it all when Jesus visited them many times after His resurrection. They knew Christ to the fullest and believed in Him without wavering, but Jesus knew they needed all of the God Head, all of the Trinity—wait for the Holy Spirit, wait for the power so you can do what I did on the earth (and even more) Jesus commanded them.
If you do not have God’s power what can you really change? Nothing! All of life is a spiritual battle—a battle between good and evil. It is not about who wins or loses but about God and Satan. The battle is fought over us. We are ‘the prize’ and we cannot become what God wants us to be without His power working not only in us but all around us.
God depends on us to execute His will, and this cannot be done without the help of the manifestation of the Holy Spirit. Healings, miracles, Fruits of the Spirit, experiencing the Glory of God, God’s executing the judgment on mankind, as well as, having everything placed under the feet of Christ—this is God’s power in action. Try to do any of these things without the power of God—impossible.
So why not ask God for His power? Why not wait for the Holy Spirit to manifest Himself in your life? Why not begin to do God’s will? Why not usher in the Kingdom of God on earth? It’s time to get the Holy Spirit and in all your getting, get the power of God working in your life—all of God for the glory of God! Character requires God’s power in us for the glory of God!
